Viktor Blom didn't know the 7th card in stud was dealt down

but that didn't stop him from ponnying up 50k to play in the Players Championship. Negreanu said that he never plays limit games and barely new any of the games besides Holdem and Omaha.

Currently he is 7th in chips

When the blinds get to a certain level, Blom's chips will disintegrate fast. Making bad plays in any of the stud games, especially 7card stud, is a sure fire way to be felted fast.

On top of the pack at the end of the night was Viktor Blom, but it took a miracle for him to get there. Blom robbed Joe Cassidy of a massive pot in the last few hands of the night by smacking a one-outer on a hand of Pot-Limit Omaha. The pot was worth well over a million and Blom finished on 1.262 million.

A week ago Viktor Blom didn't know how many cards you get in Razz, and now he is among the chip leaders in the $50k. Sounds about right.

I saw the hand where he crippled Cassidy, and I'm not sure what Blom put Cassidy on. I assume some sort of wrap, but when Cassidy bets that turn Blom had to know Cassidy was playing, at the minimum, a set.

    Crazy lucky.

In a PLO full ring game middle set is not that great. If nit calls or re pots they almost always have top set. Most of time these guys just wait until they have it before putting in pot sized bets.

That's what I'm thinking. Plus Cassidy is more of a limit and stud game player; so for him to be putting that much into the pot Blom should have known Cassidy was holding top set, OR the remote chance that Cassidy had AA and turned a set of Aces.

wrap with flush draw is favorite over top set

he could be jamming with that

but Blom is just a gambler at heart. once he sticks in that much money i think he goes into his online PLO mode were he just wants to get it all in and figure it out when the dust settles.

True, and the fact the Blom as said he doesn't know the other games that well, might have played a factor.

I heard Negreanu say that he played 200/400 just to learn how to play the some of the limit games. I sometimes get this desire to play Omaha HiLo at the local card room but the lowest level game is 6/12 and I thought that was a little too high just to learn the game.

Also heard an interview with Matt Glantz and he said he sucked at every limit game and only accumulated chips in the NL Holdem and PLO games by pushing people around.

I've played 6/12 Omaha hi/lo awhile back. Like you, it was the only limits spread for that game. All I can say is play tight, and you'll win for sure. A lot of the players (at least at the casino I played) didn't have the patients to hold out for a good starting hand.

Also, don't re-raise with the nut low. I've seen a lot of guys quartered that way.
