i dont think language should get you banned. it's an aspect of poker. i've been playing cash games for a long time. shit talking is just a part of the game. it really is. sometimes dealers and floor people come over and enact the "phil hellmuth rule" and tell the players to tone it down, or ask guys to leave. but people that play poker are always going to trash talk each other. it's a part of the game. Poker is a game of ego. As long as you aren't cheating i dont think trash talking or cursing should get you banned. Free speech is a great thing. I trash talk people all the time at poker. I usually do it in self defense (meaning they say something bad to me first, then i retaliate and am ruthless). Trash talk is a part of the game. You are gambling with each other. People are going to get pissed when they lose money. I don't support physical fighting (i've seen plenty of it). But i think trash talk is ok. I've been in live cash games where people get in fistfights. I've been in underground cash games in cities where big ass guys get in real fights. Even in casinos, at the Taj Mahal and Borgata in AC i've seen plenty of physical fights. One guy was trash talking the crap out of someone. He sucked out on him twice. Then half hour later he sucked out on him again in a huge pot. Then he made a smart ass comment. Other guy got up, walked across the table, and choked him. I've had people threaten to shoot me with a gun because they were pissed i was taking their money. I've had people try to fight me. I don't support all of this, but i'm saying there can be a lot worse at a poker table than trash talk. With all the shit ive seen, i don't really get that upset from trash talk. I only think cheating or physical violence should get you banned. I'm ok with trash talk. We are adults. We should be able to take it. If you've been playing poker long enough, you get used to the trash talk. I just learn to deal with it and not let it affect me as opposed to whining to the dealer. Besides, if a guy is cursing and obviously really pissed, he's probably on tilt. That benefits YOU.

If you don't like the abuse, try trash talking back to them.

I think a lot worse can happen than just trash talk.

A witty barb can be appreciated on some level at the tables (I suppose), but the mental midgets that 'trash talk' with such clever gems as "fuukk u ass.hole" or "fuukkin piece of s.hit" and other assorted intellectual quips need to be shut down not merely for their mental ineptitude, but for their boorishness driving the recreational player away (read: Nemos).

Bottom line: One can be a moron and play poker and everyone will gladly deal with that; but everyone has the right to play poker with the reasonable expectation of not being subjected to that moron's acting out antics.
