Rogie:

At least you can have a betfair account, most guys here can't even play there.

When you start complaining about pinnacle you know you got it good.

Rogue

I've been reading about this on the betfair forums. Sounds like a real shitty deal for winners. I just started playing around there recently as I couldn't before from gringoland, so I don't understand exactly what's going on.

This was a extremely bad decision made by BetFair IMO. This is the second increase from them within roughly a year.

Durito, basically Betfair has decide they will get 20% of your profits either by commisions or this imaginary charge. If you have paid less then 20% of your profits in commisions they will take away the difference up to 20%. For the folks that strategist to pay the lowest amount of commisions and maximise their profits this will be a major screw to them.

I have a Betdaq account but I'm waiting for hockey before I use it again.

Hopefully liquidity will be good for NHL.

Anyone else using betdaq?

At least one of Betfair's winners, though, took a different view. "It's the best news I've had for ages, as it's not going to cost me a penny," Harry Findlay, professional punter and owner of Denman, said. "I'm a gambler, so the way I bet, it won't make a difference. The people who will be screaming will be the maths professors with computer models, the ones who just never lose. If they clear off, it should be even easier for me to make money."

No he's NOT right. The only reason he wins decent money is because he is a millionaire. If he bet in £50 notes he would hardly make any money at all. His loss rate is nearly as high as his wins which is why he already pays enough.
There are plenty of proper punters with a better ratio than that and many of them are affected, Betfair just dont want to let anyone know about this and pretend its the bot users and traders, dont fall for their spin.
Brilliant video at the top mate, feel the same way, would love to do one myself but couldnt have put it any better.

Welcome to the forum, sheffieldscimita.

If you are a small gambler (paying at least 4% commission) and NOT a trader, no way you will be effected by the new rule. I had a close look at it and it does indeed mainly effect traders or maybe very successful gamblers (of whom Harry is one and he does not complain).

My main problem is that it does not go far enough! I rather see BetFair take out the whole trading element where commission is being charged only on the nett result of a market. They should charge on every single bet being made in the same way as transactions are being charged for those gambling on the stock exchange.

Harry isnt making a massive percentage on the money he circulates though, I make more than him percentage wise but have a much smaller pot to play with, hence it penalises me more than him. I would have to pay 3k extra next year with the new charges. I dont trade but I often back a few in the same race against the others so dont tend to lose as often. I think many more smaller punters are affected than most people are thinking. In fact Ive just had another decent win at the weekend so it will probably go up even higher now. I think I'm moving to Betdaq anyway for a while where its 2% and see what happens, I dont have massive lumpy bets either so might be able to get accommodated over there. Thanks for the greeting anyhow, good luck to you all.

Two nights ago you said you were living in Miami and wanted to take Robyn and Teela to the jungle in Nicaragua. Today you say you live in a mud hut in some pour country.

When do the lies actually end?
