While Vandy has made some improvements in the past couple of years, they will still continue to have an upset every so often. But I doubt they have one against SC this year.

Why?
That defense was gooooooooooood!!! Should shut down Vandy's run, and force their Nickson to throw.
USC was sluggish at the start, because of Beecher. But Smelley was put in the fourth quarter and goes 5-5, 93 yards, leading them on three touchdown drives, 2 touchdown passes.
Vandy beat up a mac, school, last week. I say untested.
I'm only putting 1 unit on this, because I got to have action on the only college football game, today.
Basically, I'm betting on a brand new quarterback, that gets his first start.

The NC St offense that SCar shut down last week was weak (<200 total yds). I know they had some QB problems, but a cumulative 5-20 passing with 2 picks is horrible regardless who is in there. They will face a tougher challenge against Vandy tonight.

However, the SCar offense should be much better from the start with Smelley opening up under center. If he'd started in the first game they probably would have pulled away from the Pack before halftime.

Who can predict turnovers? SCar benefitted from four of them last week while throwing four picks. Replacing their starting QB should cut down on their picks. Vandy fumbled twice but their D got three picks. One turnover-facilatated td could very well decide a cover tonight.

South Carolina is the better team, but double digits is a lot to lay on the road. It was just one year ago when the Gamecocks started off 6-1 (only loss at LSU) before Vandy beat them by 11 in Columbia. I'm passing this one.

There's nothing better on tv tonight, so I was and still am looking for input on this game. Who knows might watch the first half with action and then lower the boom on the second half. BOL with your wager on the game.

Why would anyone not bet against a home team on national tv getting 11 points? Vandy is the play if you have to take a side...

I'm with South Carolina -10 as well. I like Smelley to come out and take the starting job for the rest of the year. The defense should shut down a Vandy offense without their best WR. They MIGHT score 10 points, pretty sure South Carolina gets at least 21

The defense of South Carolina won't allow that many points tonight. Vandi's QB ran for 166 yds. and 2 TD's against Miami (OH). No way the gamecocks let him rush for half that much today. They will load up on the DL and make Nickson beat them in the air, and that won't happen either.

On offense, Smelley getting the start should limit the turnovers and as long as he manages the game right and picks up on all the blitzing Vandi will probably do. Then the chains will move often for USC.

I could have seen USC's offense struggling but never would have guessed they'd collapse on defense like that. Disappointing game. Congrats Vandy backers!
