My friend presley has been doing really good. I have done it twice and
both times this rule screwed me:
If there are 1 or more runs scored in the bottom of the listed inning, bets are no action.

The bet is no action, but they offer the second chance again in the 6th inning.Originally Posted by imgv94

I havent checked into this feature yet Illusion. Not sure I would use it though. Id rather just ride out my original bet, then to get caught up in inning by inning bets.
I usually only use Pinnacle two days out of the week. Mainly a local bettor.![]()

This is from the FAQ section at Pinnacle:
Why are bets 'No Action' if there is a run in the bottom of the 5th? Why not just deal it between the 5th and 6th?
We wanted to give the customers as much time to bet as possible. We realize that often the bets will be no action. The lines will be available until the 1st pitch in the 6th so if you want to avoid No Action, you can wait for the 5th to end.
What happens when there is a run scored in the 5th?
We will refund all bets that had been placed on the 5th Inning Second Chance and will deal a 6th inning Second Chance line. A 6th Inning Second Chance will work the same as the 5th inning but will be cancelled if there is a run in the bottom of the 6th.
What happens if the game doesn't go a full 9 or 8 1/2 innings?
All Second Chance wagers will be refunded, including moneylines.
Which lines will be dealt for which games? Which juice will be used?
Totals will be dealt for all games with -108 style pricing. Spreads will be dealt for all games where a team is leading by 3 or more runs with -108 style pricing. Moneylines will be dealt in all games where a team is leading by 3 or less runs with -108 style pricing or better. Moneylines will be occasionally be dealt on games with a greater than 3 run lead, on a game by game basis.

this betting option could be very profitable if you know bulpen depth.

it's for suckers trust me....the only way it is profittable is if you are smart enough to bet the dogs in it. Sportsbooks are well aware of the nature of human behavior and the research literature when it comes to gambling...they know people are desperate and want to cancel their bets they think are going to lose. The idea is individuals will chase their original (perceived losing) bet with another bet. This way, individuals can partially cancel out their original bet with another bet that guarantees the book will make money regardless of the outcome of the game. It's kind of a scalp for the book where they take action on both sides of the game from the individual. Take for example in yesterday's NYY/Minn game...after the btm 5th inning, the second chance line came out as NYY +334 and Minn -400 even though Minn was up only 4-2. The idea then would be if you took NYY you could go ahead and bet Minn (at -400 no less) thus canceling your NYY +124 bet assuring the book a guaranteed profit off of you . Of course, if you were a sharp, you could (1) bet NYY +334 realizing Santana was fading and +334 on any team down only two runs (no less the Yankees either) with 12 outs to go is beyond tremendous value regardless if it wins or not (2) if you bet your original Minn -133 you could have scalped that with a +334 guaranteeing you money...but the tendancy for the majority of bettors is to chase not to guarantee money. You also notice the ridiculous money lines are both ways but the majority of people will play the favorite naturally. Of course, the Yankees lost but you get the point of this example.
If you are sharp enough to realize that games aren't over in the fifth inning you can make some money off of it by betting dogs but that's the only way it can be profitable in my opinion.
Think about it for a second, sportbooks don't offer anything that is in the customer's advantage....they never have and they never will from now till the end of time![]()

A road team down 2 afer 5 innings would be expected to win 18-20% of the time.... -400 is equivalent to 0.8, so it wasn't really "great value" on the dog.

Yes you are right if you treat all teams the same...so you assume there is no difference between the Royals, Yankees, Pirates, and Rangers. You have take into account the variance among teams and make a choice accordingly.Originally Posted by Santo

Buddybear I disagree with this. The public has favorable circumstances with the Small Market college gamesOriginally Posted by BuddyBear
IMO. Another huge advantage the public has
over the books is the opportunity to stay away from
games. The books can put limits on the games but they
can not stay away from a particular game! We can!!
That is the one advantage the public has!!!

sorry imgv I disagree....linesmaker can tell you the color of underwear of the players of those small college teams are wearing. It's a mistake to assume that you know more about a team then a linesmaker does under any circumstance...handicapping 101!
