Default Just saw something on Pinnacle i've never seen before

Canadian College Football???

WTF is that?! LOL

Nicky, i didn't even know such a thing existed, do they play with the canuck rules in college up there too, or is it US rules? What about Canadian HS Football, do they play with 3 downs or 4?

Goofy stuff if there ever was any to bet on, with this they should have US HS football betting

cfl rules, brocky.. 3 downs... just like CFL.. it's pretty exciting football.. fans go crazy at these games. they always sell out every seat. it's almost as big as CFL in canada.. but nowhere near as big as college football in the U.S.. and i mean.. nowhere near.. can't compare this to notre dame, or ohio state, or michigan state, or USC, or UCLA.. but still big as hell..

That's nothing guy. They offer CSL (Canadian Soccer League)

Serbian White Eagles vs. Toronto Croatia!!!!!

This shit is pretty much a rec league, they play this shit in parks.

btw, What was the line on the UofT Waterloo game? UofT had lost 49 in a row until yesterday. They'd still spank Duke though.

That is overstating things considerably in my experience.

Now I am in the Greater Toronto Area where interest is the lowest so my view is jaded. Some major schools around here - which are some of the biggest schools in the country - have had periods in recent memory where they have had to consider cancelling their football programs.

As you move away from the GTA, interest increases. But it is not that crazy. I mean, I'm sure some kids have fun but it is an afterthought on the Canadian sports scene.

Television coverage is very limited due to the small interest. The championship game (Vanier Cup) doesn't even always sell out.

As for the question about CIS players making it to the NFL, there is a tight end on the Colts roster right now (or at least last I heard). Name of Giguere.

I suspect there have been others. Jessie Lumsden tried out at RB for a few teams a few years back but didn't quite catch on and now plays in Hamilton (CFL). I would bet there have been a some at non-skill positions but I don't have details at my fingertips.

CIS is a hotbed for NFL scouts looking for longsnappers for practice rosters.

There have been quite a few who have "made the team" (ie. cracked an NFL roster), but few who have actually got much playing time.

Only one guy has ever been drafted in the first round:

Quote:
Michael Schad (born on October 2, 1963 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada) is a former American football offensive lineman in the NFL.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the 23rd pick of the 1986 NFL Draft. He attended Moira Secondary school in Belleville, Ontario. He played his college football at Queen's University in Canada. He was the first and only player in CIS football history to be drafted in the first round of an NFL draft. He would go on to play a total of 62 games with the Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles.

You may recall a wide receiver for the Colts and Saints (late1990s to mid 2000s), Jerome Pathon. He actually played his first year of university ball at tiny Acadia University in Nova Scotia, before transferring to the University of Washington to finish his college career.
