It was sufficient for the average player but smaller than I expected...maybe deposit options are hurting them.

I would state it more strongly. I found liquidity poor. I was surprised how poor it was.
(But given that the average player is probably placing bets of $100 and less, I would agree that things were basically okay for him.) I don't know that the funding issues are the problem. Baseball is still good. I don't know what's up with the NCAAF. Maybe Matchbook just isn't the place to go for it at all. Hopefully it picks up.

Matchbook charges for moneybookers deposits.
Why would they do this. |

Matchbook has never grown , no place offering betting like this has grown, American just don't bet that way and never will. Matchbook can only go down now, they had plenty of time to grow but players were not interested.

Matchbook is good because:
No parlays, nearly impossible to chase. Every time I've chased, it's been with parlays. For me I like it because, no racebook. I will nickel and dime my bankroll to death with the racebook. |

They've never had big liquidity outside NFL, MLB, and NBA (day of games). I have no idea if they ever will. If you bet one of those 3 sports on game game they will have the best price more often than not.
JJ is perhaps right about Americans, as if you compare say Matchbooks golf liquidity to Betfairs (on PGA tour events in the usa). it's about 100,000 bigger at betfair. you can maybe get a few small bets in on the masters at matchbook, otherwise every week the screen is full of players and void of offerings, whereas betfair is matching a million $ on weak field no name pga events and 20x that on bigger tourneys. |

Yeah I'm not sure if it is my memory playing tricks but I thought Matchbook was better last year for NCAAF.
If I am understanding your question, they can't lose on the individual bets. They collect a commission on every single matched offer. They can only lose if overhead becomes more expensive than the commissions they collect.
