Poster Dark Horse has left SBR , although i never really interacted with the guy, when stumbling upon some of his posts i found them to be smart, with substance,and generally good info on the subject at hand.

i think darhorse Lt,pat are some of the smart posterson sbr.i think he got mad about how the contest was done.he had some good points.i will have fun with the contes.iam going to put 200,300 in everyone except laspalms.iam going to give those accounts to my sister,and let her have a blast.the real money is during the real season.

Hate to see Dark Horse go...one of the posters that is always insightful and a good read. Not sure on the specifics for BTP or how it has been done in the past.

I don't get why you'd have to open a NEW account to play in a contest. I'd gladly depost a yard into my existing dsi account, but I don't want to open accounts up just to play in a contest.

if i could have made bets in the past that posters would be back after they said they quit, i'd be worth about 4.6 million..posters love to announce they are quitting, because it's their way of feeling loved and getting attention..

Dark Horse is/was a solid poster. Although I dont know why he descided to disect the terms of service, I do see some of his points. I think having to sign up for 5 books for the 128 man tourney was overdoing it on the part of sbr. But again, if you didnt want to then you could have only choosen what books you perfered(in my case I refused to sign up at betonline and carib) so I wil only recieve 3/5 of the prize money.

Do I read the rules correctly? you have to complete your roll over before being eligible to play BTP? Or did I misread something here.

In addition to any promotions offered by your new sportsbook, SBR will add an additional cash bonus to your account based on the following schedule, subject to successful verification of your new account. SBR will contact sponsoring sportsbooks each Friday to verify that week's new signups. Once we receive confirmation, we will instruct the sponsoring book to add the additional bonus at that time.
Deposits of $100 USD (the minimum deposit amount to be contest eligible) to $249 USD receive no additional bonus
Deposits from $250 USD to $499 USD will receive an additional bonus of 5% from SBR
Deposits from $500 USD to $999 USD will receive an additional bonus of 10% from SBR
Deposits of $1000 USD or greater will receive an additional bonus of 15% from SBR, up to a maximum of $500 USD
All deposits and additional bonuses will be subject to a 5x rollover as well as the Terms and Conditions of the sponsoring sportsbook.

Among the reasons I come to SBR, I'd say about 0% is for contests and giveaways. But hey, that's me.

I suppose if SBR is going to do contests, they should either:

Make it totally free, no strings attached of any kind

or

If they're going to attach strings, give the player the option of putting up an entry fee instead.

After careful consideration, I am announcing that I will be leaving SBR PERMANENTLY until 3 PM EST today. Those of you who know me know that when I say things like this, I am dead serious, it's not just talk. There will be no more posts by The HG on SBR for the next 90 minutes. What will become of SBR in that span of time because of this action I am taking? I don't know, but I do know that I just cannot abide by what I have seen going on here recently. I don't think DH has a problem depositing 100 bucks as that is chicken feed, but many of the posters here with thousands of posts already have accounts at most if not all of the sponsored books that SBR requires you to open up a NEW account with. If you already have accounts at all of them I guess you are just excluded from the best contest SBR's ever put on, which makes no sense to penalize the longest/most frequent posters, when some chick with 2 posts who doesn't have an account at any of them is eligible

Having to open up accounts to a gazillion books to play in free contests is ludicrous. The intent of the contests is to promote handicapping skills and competition between the forum posters. If the intent has shifted to becoming a cash cow for SBR I can see why posters chose not to participate, myself included.

As far as I know that's correct. I definitely already have accounts everywhere. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I haven't been following the situation that carefully but I did see an SBR person (Crazyl ??) saying at one point that people in my situation would just have to sit this one out. Don't know if that has changed.


To me it would be a shame for Dark Horse to leave. This is a forum which just keeps getting dumbed down more and more. That's fine; that's what the majority of people want; that has been a calculated goal on the part of SBR from the start. Probably good business on their part.

But even though people who appreciate something a little more thoughtful and articulate are pushed to the fringes, it's good to know they are around. Dark Horse has been one of those people going back almost to the start.

I hope he will come back. He is making a stand on principle but I think he will see that other forums are WAY further from his principles than this place, even with the BTP stuff.

No, the rollover must be completed before you'd be able to cash out in accordance to the bonuses given by SBR/and the sportsbook in question. All you have to do for eligibility to play is open a new account and deposit through one of the sponsors listed on the contests signup page.

I keep thinking SBR is going to change the rules for people that already have accounts at all of these books, but I could be wrong. Remarkably I actually have a book to sign up and play at.

Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out if that's the route you want to go. One of the problems you "older" posters have, is accepting a new and/or different way(s) of posters. Since some have issues/problems with "non-sports" topics, a switch was made - yet some of the "old farts" are "above" responding to a new person to the site. I've started topics that were meant to be fun (silly as called by some) to serious and will continue to do such. If you don't keep moving forward, you'll be passed since you're standing still.

BTW, what GAMBLING/SPORTS topic would you like me to start next and have get a discussion going?

Would like the threads to be legit not just forced questions from the EOG handbook of emergency thread starters. But guess when the forum is dead SBR has to throw out some crap about whether you like coke or pepsi just to keep things goin, at least lately your posts have had a gambling/sports theme to them instead of 50 questions of what's your favorite candy bar
