I know this all sounds very technical but it's not, the bottom line is stick to Premier League games until you know your way around the soccer scene.
Both of these teams had something to prove and had some spots open that I assumed would cause some fierce competition from within. Especially after all of the upsets yesterday, I thought these two teams would come out and play hard today. Sunderland dominated the first half but just couldn't find the net.

Good points Dave, i'm just saying the League Cup is a very hard competition to gamble on if you're looking to back Premier League clubs. Most Premier League managers are on record saying if they didn't have to play they wouldn't.

Damn, went a perfect 4 - 0 on baseball today and BROKE EVEN thanks to this soccer mishap... How often do you go 6 for 6 in picking games and break even?

More the principal then the $20 man... I'm over the money. I thought I was betting on a team to win and they won and I still lost. Obviously its been pointed out that I was wrong and so it goes. But it isn't the fact that I lost $20, its the fact that I lost the way that I did.

Stop spending your money on meaningless soccer games and save it for Santa Anita Park, October 24th-25th.

Shit happens. Like englishmike says, don't bet on the Carling Cup. I had a shitload of money on Newcastle, before they conceeded in the 94th minute, that's what these games are like.

Hockey was mentioned earlier, but I seem to recall having 3 options last year:

    1) Team to win, including OT or shootout
    2) 3 way on regulation only
    3) Handicap on regulation only

It's not as if other sports have rules, like baseball on games that go less than full. Most all props and totals are voided, even if you have a win based on the final score.

Lots of money to be made in these minor Cup tournaments if you know what you are doing. You get some beautiful dogs cashing at large prices. I haven't bet the League Cup, but made some nice coin last year in FA Cup. Plenty of upsets, I cashed a couple +500 dogs last year. One was when Chelsea lost to a second division team (Burnely, I think, not sure). I cashed a +400 dog when Middlesborough got beat by another low level team too. And Portsmouth cashed nicely when they beat Man United (Portsmouth is a Premiership team, but the FA Cup means alot more to them than Man United, simply because they have no chance at winning anything else at the moment)
