Thumbs up A happy ending to my marriage

I promised everyone an update on my marital problems. If you don't remember, my wife was ready to leave me because she wanted a child and I didn't want one.

Well, a miracle has happened and she's decided to adopt a child. If I was making betting lines a couple of months ago, I would have given that result a 1% chance at best. For whatever reasons she's decided to keep me rather than trying to have a baby with another man. I'm thrilled, relieved, and in shock.

You guys really helped me when I was down and I appreciate it immensely. Thanks!

I'm assuming you didn't want a child because you didn't want to deal with raising the child?

As such, how is adopting a good solution? You will still be this child's "father", presumably.

Sorry, it may not be my business, I'm just confused.

Just curious why you would want someone else's child instead of your own?

I mean no harm in this post. Just seems odd.

So many reasons. Too many people on this planet. The USA is going down the toilet. Mental illness runs in my family. I could go on and on. There's no need for that anymore.

That actually makes perfect sense. While 1 more person on earth really won't make a difference, I'm a bit ****ed up in the head, and certainly have reservations of bringing a kid into the world and passing that on to them... so that makes sense.

Well best wishes for you and your wife!

Fine, don't believe it. It was a shock to me too. If she changes her mind you'll hear about it because I'll always be here.

Nice job fearless. I never want to have kids either because of bad genetics. I couldn't stand for someone to be like me.

It seems to me that most hardcore gamblers are totally different from the average person because it seems like they love to be isolated at almost all times. I've seen alot of guys on here talk about how they never want a kid because this world is already a terrible place. That is pretty stupid answer. The world is alot better off now than it was two hundred years ago or more. Remember that bad news sales and good news never gets reported. I think adopting a kid is great for anyone but not to have a kid because the world is a terrible place? I hope your wife thinks twice about adopting a kid because it doesn't really sound like your father material. Not trying to sound like a jerk but it sounds like you don't want a kid. How is adoptiong a kid you don't want going to help your situation?

That mental illness thing is a weak excuse. It's one thing is you both were carriers to some hereditary disease but wtf do you think conceiving a child is? It's a crap shoot like anything else in life. If it's a mental and not a physical objection you have to having your own kid, I mean come on how do you know the adopted kid isn't going to be f'ed up. You're just weaksauce for not having any kind of confidence (I'm assuming) and not wanting any responsiblities in life. You should just hang yourself now.

You should have got snipped when she wasnt around and act like your trying to have a baby. But if you adopt and divorce how does child support work

Fearless, Monday Morning Quarterbacking is not just reserved for football season. Don't worry about the comments in this thread. If you like it, I love it. You can't make a bunch of degenerates happy. If you are somewhat happy and your wife is happy, then everything will work out just fine.

Good luck to your marriage and hope all is well. I'm all for adoption and have nothing against it but don't see the difference in adopting and having your own child in your case. My advice to you is that if you really want to stay with your wife you compromise with gambling. Ive been through this before with my husband and its not easy but he loves me that we both came to a compromise and I have taken his interests as well to show him that I still want him to do what makes him happy just in a more reasonable way. Good luck to you and your wife! Hope it all works out !

Children become what their enviornment dictates more so than their genetic makeup, it is all about personal experience, I personally would rather have my own kids over adopting anyday but if I could not have kids I would not have a problem adopting but congrats and hope it works out for yah

I'm glad you've sorted the problem and I genuinely hope it works out, were you firing blanks? I'm always available as a donor, film it if you like.

I agree with this statement 100%. It's like this guy in some sick way thinks if he adopts a kid then he doesn't have to really take care of this kid since the kid is not really his. I really hope you think about what your doing before you ruin some kids life.

Why do I have a feeling your not really married.
