Default Can computer person help me?

Just bought a new macbook and am trying to set it up on wireless network. It is at someone else house so not too familiar with it. Of course guy at store said could log on and just enter networks password and it would connect. **** no it doesnt. I love how stupid I am to believe some pimply, stoner, ****ing hipster at the mac store.

I tried using the same network that another laptop in house is using and still not working. Anyone here have any tips? Im not that good with computers but I didnt think this would be that hard. Any help guys?

Doesnt it tell you what wireless networks have been detected before you log on?

Can you see the network? Is your WIFI on. If nt disconnect modem and router. Turn off laptop. Turn on modem, then router, then laptop.

Check on the side of the mac book --- there is probably a wireless on/off switch that is currently off --- you need to turn it on

Using same network that pc laptop is and entered the right password. it says I need to configure the settings so before I can finish it says needs to restart modem and then restart router. Im waiting to do that but other people are on computers now.

What I dont freakin understand is why would I need to do all this? I mean if i go to wifi spot cant i just log on and enter password to get it working? I just dont know why I cant do this here.
