    More information would be helpful.
Why and for what purpose are you moving for example.

Don't take a bus cross country
Don't gamble like a crazy person when you arrive
    Buy sunscreen
Don't call the numbers on the fliers they hand out on the strip
Remember, you live here now. Every reason why you like visiting here are the same things that will swallow you up and spit you out. BE SMART. EVERYTHING IN MODERATION!!

    i hate michigan.

but mainly i am moving there to play poker full time, mostly tournaments. i would love to win my way into the world series this year. i am moving with a buddy and we are basically taking the money we have with hopes of making it out in las vegas. we are working with about 10k and will working together. me playing tournaments and him playing cash, with 1 sports bet a day. i would love any inside information on good places to stay in the beginning (probably a hotel close or on the strip). but basically i am just lookign to hear from anyone with experience because i have never been there.

nah, even if we bust out we don't want to come back to Michigan. we are hoping to find a cheap foreclosed home to buy.

Not many good poker tourneys in Vegas, imo. The casinos don't make much off them.

starting a pool which on what date you will say why did we come out here and when can we get back? unfortunately reality is going to rear it's ugly head. poker has peaked but you will find action. not as much as calif poker wise. drop 3 or 4 sports bet a day in a row and you will start making 2 a day to catch up. cheap rooms are available but you won't want to spend time in them. your paltry 10,000 will shrink so fast down to 7000 and then to 4000 and when it gets down below 1500 head home.

With 10K, your buddy is rolled to play 1/2 and maybe take ratholing shots at 2/5. Your rolled for like 50-60 tournaments, which are the dailies at off strip locations that will get 20 tourists, start with 1,500 chips and blinds go up every 10 minutes...or 2 hands live.

Yes there is. Chasing that dream intelligently is more exciting. These guys are "chasing a dream" in the same way as someone buying a lottery ticket, and with the same chances.

The worse thing that could happen to them is to win right off. They they'll be permanently seduced, and no amount of later reality will dissuade them. In fact, they'll just define reality as "bad luck."

Exactly, don't gamble. You will lose everything. Even Steve Wynn said he can't recall a single gambler who Is up money overall in their lifetime

Stay home. We don't need anymore people out here, it's bad enough.

I'm just kidding, come out and enojy! It's a great place to live. Best thing I can suggest is don't go into the casinos everynight. You'll get buried and/or bored with the entire place and then LV will seem like a shitty place to live. Go out, explore the area, try different things than the casinos.

Both seriously and humorously..............stay out of the casinos. Treat them as a once per month night out.

Anyone who roots against someone they never met just for the sake of hating, then to you sir I'm sorry that your so unhappy with the way your life has turned out.

As for the prospect of failing, I already know the risk involved in having our income all come from gambling. I wouldnt have put my 2 weeks notice in today if i didn't. I will be happy knowing that I did take my shot. I have no wife or kids, no house payment, no car payment so why not take my shot now. I will regret not doing it more then doing it and failing.

and @ JJ, no I am not a pro gambler because I don't do it for a living....yet. But I have been gambling since I was 13 which isn't something to be proud of, but I do have some experience in the area.
