Default Protect Yourself From Office Pool Scams...

got a call from my buddy today...he was told he finished third and would win $200...then he got a call today saying he finished fifth out of 133 people and didn't place at all (even though the documentation he got was prizes for the top seven people)...he was also told several times during the tournament that the website was "down" and standings couldn't be checked on...it was actually run by a guy who works for UPS out here in Reno...I told him that he's pretty much screwed...

also, another friend got second in a pool was to receive $100, but ended up receiving $85, because the guy running it charged a maintanence fee (not documented)...kind of bush if you ask me...

to prevent this from happening with you, make sure you trust the guy running the pool and written rules with online standings are a must...just wanted to pass this along...

There's another one going around. If a man comes to your front door and says he is conducting a survey and asks you to show him your knob then do not show him your knob. This is a scam and he is only trying to see your knob.

Please pass this warning onto your friends - so far, I've been caught out every day this week. Usually by the same man.

i'm suprised that people don't do what we do around here. they makes a ton of copies of everyones sheets, and give them a copy of everyones.

i know people are suppose to trust everyone, but thats not how the real world works.

    tacomax,

the guy saw my knob...I'm screwed...

    dan,

I would say that paper copies are fine and all, but unless it's documented on a website I wouldn't play because there is too much potential for shadiness on the person running the pool's end...
