Wink Did you achieve your summer weight loss goals?

As gamblers, we love this time of year with September right around the corner. As individuals that sometimes step on the scale, we may not, as most of us are lazy sacks of flesh who have a propensity to order out 6X a week.

I personally set out to shave off around 25-30lbs over the summer, and in fact added probably that amount... How about you?

Over the past eight weeks I've dropped 15 pounds which is good but haven't reached my summer's goal (10 more to go). This gives me a fighting chance during the fall/winter with all the holidays.

Keep up the good work. Try to remember, you did NOT put it on all at once and therefore won't take them off all at once.

Cmon crazy.. you don't need tips, as if it's a mystery how to lose weight.

Stop ordering out. Period. Eat carrots instead of chips.
You don't even need to exercise to lose most of the weight.

Lay off the oriole cookies too

CrazyL for me it was this (http://forum.sbrforum.com/players-ta...as-begun.html)... no fast food, no fried food, no junk food. Went completely cold turkey on them. For a fat fvck like me that was eating 2 to 3 huge fast food meals a day this was an insanely huge step.

If you can do something like this awesome, but if you can't thats understandable. I LOVE food too and miss the good stuff every day. These people that say eat carrots instead of fries have no sympathy to our cause.

Some things to consider...

1. If you can't cut it out completely, cut back on it a little. If you are like me, when you go to McDonalds you'd get a big mac combo large, 2 double cheeseburgers, and a mcchicken. Cut out the 3 extra sandwiches and stick with medium. Yeah you are still eating bad food but those extra calories aren't helping (think that huge Dominos order you made... just get a small or medium pizza instead NO WINGS)

2. But for real results, FIND YOUR MOTIVATION. This was the absolute biggest step for me. I've been trying to lose weight my whole life and have done so on and off, but I always just lost to "get the girl" or "because I'm fat and I should", never had a true reason.

After thinking long and hard about it, I decided my motivation was good health. Seems obvious enough but as I think about my mortality I decided I didn't want to die in my 50s and spend the last 5 years of my life in a hospital overcoming heart attacks and diabetes and shit. Visualizing myself being kept alive with fvking tubes because I poisoned my body so much for all those years was enough for me to attempt to turn it around.

Maybe its something different for you. Self confidence? Increased energy? Looking sexy? Whatever it is, find your TRUE motivation and from this day forward think every time you overindulge on bad foods you are getting further away from your motivation. If you don't have a true powerful motivation, then keep eating; no reason not to.

3. Don't feel the need to work out. You can lose weight just eating better, like mathdotcom said. Its discouraging to workout because you don't see results since they are hidden under all the fat. Shed fat with good eating and then you can worry about toning.

4. Subway footlong sandwiches with no chips... Chipotle burrito bowls w/ extra lettuce, no tortilla no chips... El Pollo Loco 3 or 4 pieces with steamed vegtables and corn tortillas... Ive been eating this stuff regularly and still losing weight and it tastes great.

5. Good luck bud!

Scales are horrible! I'm ridiculously neurotic about numbers and it takes a lot for me not to step on the scale daily.

I've spent the summer not comfortable enough to take my shirt off in public, so the answer is no.

If I always had a gut prolly wouldn't be self-conscious about it, but until two years ago I was in good physical shape (not much body fat, just muscle)

Many of us here need some good diet ideas.

I figure if I need to go up a size in waist, its time to slow down on fast food. If I go down, its time to bulk up.

Excellent post Dave, thank you for writing this up. I really need some motivation to eat right, I'm Italian and it just kind of runs in the family to eat lots. Perhaps Teela can flirt with me and compel me to?

Hint- sending me PM's riddled with perverse undertones may help..

I'm Italian too, I was raised to love food and eat plenty of it...

Once you hit your target weight you can start eating things you like again in moderation and just watching the scale like a hawk to make sure you are maintaining.

Usually I lose weight during the summer, but not this year. I probably added close to 15 pounds.

Who's counting? I could eat that when I was 19.

I would weigh 300 pounds, but I could still eat it.

With a shake and apple pie on the side.

by the way i disagree with the suggestion to not work out but instead not eat as much

i would suggest at least three days per week of 30 minute cardio. at the end of the cardio your shirt should be drenched in sweat or else you need to pick it up.

your metabolism will rise. you can actually eat the same and lose weight. just make better choices. cut way back on the fried foods (especially fried/breaded).

most of all if you want serious results then you gotta be serious about it and don't go half way

goldengoat; no question, cardio will certainly help your body.

But you may not know how hard it is for some of us. Fat people get no sympathy... "Eat less and excercise you fat fvcks" is all we hear. It isn't that easy. Eating healthy and exercising make me absolutely miserable.

In a perfect world, yes, you should do both. But when both are outstandingly difficult, 1 of 2 is certainly better then 0.

CrazyL, I didn't understand what brand of perverse you wanted. I'm sorry.

If you order Domino's, you better make sure you order enough for me. I'm hungry.

Crap....that wasn't supportive, was it?

Like I said El Pollo Loco / Subway much healthier then eating stuff like McDonalds.

Try the Oven Roasted Chicken Breast sandwich at Subway. Footlong only $5! Get it on wheat bread and NO ranch/southwest sauce... go with honey mustard or a vinegarette instead. No chips.

So for $6 and change you get a footlong sandwich with chicken and your favorite veggies and a drink!

Even healthier, ask for a turkey or oven roasted chicken salad... they'll chop it up for you and toss it over a bed of lettuce. Save yourself the carbs from the bread.

Oh and if you have a local Trader Joes, check them out. Lots of healthy choices and easy-to-prepare food!
