    Default how do linesmakers come up with mlb odds

    football and basketball value is easy to discern using sagarin ratings.i would like to figure how totals, moneylines,and runlines are set.any help would be appreciated.dave cokin wants $31000 for the mlb season.may give him 2 weeks to show his stuff.

    $31,000?...are you kidding me?...logic or not, I'd never ever recommend paying this kind of money (or any for that matter) for picks...

    I believe Jumper left out a decimal in that price, $310 sounds like what a tout like Cokin would charge for a season. Seriously, you're better off sticking to picks on forums like this.

    if i had some handle on the method used to set moneylines,totals etc...my dart aim might improve,or at least predict which path of price movement offers the least resistance.i realize this is a hard one to answer

    from a bettors perspective you need to calculate(handicap) the odds of team A beating team B and then convert that into a breakeven ML.

    team A = 60% => breakeven = -150
    team B = 40% => breakeven = +150

    Thats what I figured. I'd do the same thing if I was a book. Easier that way and less chance of mesing up.
