great vid vegas dave.I started wagering in horse along time ago, actually have been a part time groom off and on 15 years
your from southern california?usc/kings fan name so I assumed you are from LA. you ever catch santa anita? great job with the videos. videos are the best thing about the sports forums in my opinion right now. the world needs some more good web sites for horses.do you have a site yet for your blog,I will be looking out for it. Anything equestrian is hard for me to handicap with all the new medicines and the different and new forms of training for horses and everything involved in racing and alot harder for me to win but alot of fun to watch. cheers |

Hey jgm love Santa Anita and Hollywood Park, these are my two main tracks. Del Mar is too far from where I live.
I don't have a separate horse site, just posting the videos on my page. I'd really like to get the word out too... not trying to be conceited but I honestly feel like my series when completed has the potential to be the PRIMER of handicapping horse racing. I've read multiple books and I am taking 100s of pages and turning them into easy to follow and watch tutorial videos that really will help people make their games sharper. I wish I could find a better way to advertise them, but alas, word of mouth is the best way to go these days. Thank you for the support. You are certainly right... things are MUCH harder to handicap today then they ever were before. |

very impressed with your videos dave.very articulate ,easy to understand.
I look forward to more of these videos,I will get on you tube and check them out tonight and leave a good rating. getting a blog or a vlog or even a web a site up is cheap and easy to do.especially with football season coming up.I know alot of people use blogger but there are toms out there fro blogs and web sites are pretty cheap nowadays as long as you are not getting into large scale billing and alot of maintenance expenses I am a voracious reader and I read more online now and watch more films and video on the computer now than I read newspapers or watch tv the technology is really converging.its fun to watch all this coming together, |

Very impressive, great tool for the beginner and interested in your actual handicapping videos to come, I bet horses a ton and mostly number combos as it is funny how certain tracks run the same numbers all the time regardless of odds but looking forward to your videos to come

Interesting strategy... certain tracks, especially off ones, have huge track biases. Won't be going over those in great detail in my vids but will touch on them a bit. Essentially certain tracks cater to horses on the inside or outside posts... so maybe a lot of 1 - 2s come in on inside favoring tracks and 6 - 7, 7 - 8s on outside favoring tracks. I usually don't worry too much about track biases but I'd love to hear what tracks you bet and what number combos you like so I can investigate ![]() |

I admit I only watched 30 seconds of the video, but this is the SECOND in the series and they are only just now getting around to defining what a WIN bet is?
Who was this series made for -- retired school teacher old widows looking for a hobby? I'm convinced the only way to win in horse racing in the long haul is to have inside information. But if anybody thinks you can win with just the racing forms, good luck to you. |

Originally this was going to be the 1st part of the series, until I realized as I was writing it that explaining how parimutuel betting worked was going to take longer then a minute or two. As I wrote episode one I realized I needed at least 5 minutes on parimutuel betting which I think is important for everyone to understand. So I split the two up and decided to go with parimutuel betting first.
I learned the hard way that you don't get to keep the price that you bet a horse at. I also learned the hard way you can cancel a wager. These are things I wish someone would have told me from the get go, and so I made sure to explain these. Anyway, as I've said before, I'm not guaranteeing long term profit. I'm simply giving people the tools on what to look for and how to maximize profits when they are right and minimize losses when they are wrong. I love the game, win or lose. |

Lol, I was thinking about the same thing, I have no idea who the target audience is for this vid, although I think Vegas Dave is a good speaker, and presents this primer material pretty well, but....come on. There's 1001 interesting topics in horse racing (if you're into it), surely there's something better than this. People interested in racing will eventually figure out what 8/5 represents, and if they can't figure it out, I doubt this vid will help.

Thanks for the nice words Art...
IF you watch the whole video you will even hear me say "sorry for the boring math and sorry for what is likely review for most of you"... I'm aware these first two episodes aren't that exciting or ground breaking. But why get lazy from the start? If you were doing a primer on sports betting, you have to start with what -, EVEN, and + bets are as well as break down individually what a straight bet, a parlay, a teaser, etc is. Even though the bread and butter of your series may be about how to evaluate trends and, more importantly, how to shop for the best lines AND watch and anticipate line movement, you can't just start telling people "Look here, -120 moved to -115, now we have much better value and should bet a unit here" without explaining what -120 and -115 and a unit mean. I personally prefer to be too detailed then not detailed enough. Beyer speeds, pace , jockeys, trainers, track conditions, distance, post position evaluation, advanced betting strategies, all coming up. But what good are they if you don't fully understand the basics? |

I agree Dave! The problem may be that you don't know just who is viewing this. I mean you can't start this in the middle or the last 2 chapters if you have beginners viewing. You have to start from the beginning & build up to the end results. Now if you KNEW your target audience were all advanced cappers then you might want to skip the first part. However Dave said this is a series & thats what series are, they have a beginning & a middle & an end! So you are doing it the correct way in my opinion ( couldn't be any other way but) & I will be looking forward to the next segment in your series Dave!
