'96-'97 Chicago Bulls. They went 72-10 that year.

The Chicago 'football' Bears.. what year was that? They lost one game to MIami in the Orange Bowl on Monday Night Football. They were animals. Hand the ball off to Walter 'Sweetness' Payton and forget about it.

I'll take the 1976/77 Montreal Canadiens. A team stacked with future Hall-of-Famers, they went 60-8-12 during the regular season, then 12-2 in the playoffs on the way to capturing their 2nd of 4 straight Stanley Cups.

Them's fightin' words. If you're not careful, you'll find yourself on the receiving end of a Canadian ass-whoopin' (meaning we will be slightly less polite to you than usual).Originally Posted by SBR_John

I actually like Olympic hockey and NHL playoffs. Maybe one of my buddies from the north pole smokers(still April Fools day) will invite me to a game?? I get to Vancouver every 2 moths and I'd love to see a game.
GreatOne, them Bears could open a major can of Whup ass on any NFL teams I've seen recently...errr...ever!

Leave it be, John. Every post in which he concentrates about hockey is another post not mentioning the Canadian Olympic curling team.Originally Posted by SBR_John

I think you guys are forgetting about the 1959 Syracuse Orangemen.
The 1959 Syracuse Orangemen of Ernie Davis. One of only two schools to lead the NCAA in seven statistical categories: points, yards gained, rushing yards, touchdown passes, first downs, yards allowed, rushing yards allowed. Averages 451 yards per game while allowing 96. Outscored their opponents 390-59 on the year, went 11-0 and won the National Title.

Back than, the knowledge base as far as exercise regime and supplements were not available like today. The athletes did what they could with what they were given. Having said that I dont want to say that the teams of today might be at an unfairadvtange bc of the advances in science either. These guys are ALSO doing what they can do with what they have been given.

This talk of comparing old stuff to new stuff is mildly interesting but irrelevant to this thread. The concept of dominance is not about transcending eras. It is about who dominated their competition at the time.
