Contrast ratio is very important when buying new tv.......don't
invest in a new tv with a low contrast ratio......min 20,000 to 1.
enjoy your new tv.

I'm in the market for a 42" as well. My old school Emerson tube tv just aint cuttin it anymore. One of my friends picked up a 50" insignia before the super bowl for just under a grand and it looks great, but don't know if i'd trust it to last too long

Panasonic 42" plasma. I like plasmas better than DLPs for sports. In my limited experience, half a dozen TVs I have viewed. DLPs look like pictures when their is not a lot of motion on the screen, but with fast motion tend to get more artifacts. Plasmas don't look as good, but no distortion no matter how fast the motion is. Don't know a lot about LCDs, have heard great things about black levels being good.

If the room is able to handle the viewing distance of a bigger screen, you won't regret paying the extra and stepping up to a 42".

Max is quickly gunning for 1K posts to get a rebate for flying the friendly skies and free shelter. He isn't giving much thought to his posts.

42' Westinghouse LCD 1080p. The tv had great reviews from consumer reports. I bought it just before the super bowl and have no complaints.

50" panasonic plasma. Really like it. You can get one at Amazon real cheap. The new Samsung plasmas look really good too. Go down to 42" in a small room, save a few more bucks.

Guy you own a beamer..don't skimp on the tube ..42" or bigger.. I got a 37" in my lil girls room. Dont get me wrong, Hannah montana and Drake n josh project clean as hell on that 37" , but sports and porn look much better on a bigger screen. Man up...
