If anyone is still curious...lasted 93 days out there in vegas. Didnt completely go broke but lost about half. Decided to hang it up as my buddy ran outta money and i found myself paying double for everything. The experience was awesome!

100 bucks a day for a 3 month gambling binge in Vegas sounds like a solid investment. I'll take one!

After the update the first mistake was bringing a friend. The first week you have to find a job anything. Then find a cheap apt. Glad you took the chance so it doesn't eat at you all ur life like me.

Had to find a job even min wage would have saved you money... Known the hilton book well those fat drink ladys arent rolling those ” free drinks” out without tips. Did you ever get the fat middle aged black one that bitch told me to tip her more because i got a double.... drink tipping alone probably killed you

If you have $20K you are either a very good saver (in which case I say, go to Vegas and just work). If it's from sportsbetting, then you are in good shape.

Get there and get a job. You don't want to hit your roll for living expenses and if you're sports gambling you don't need to sit in the casinos all day to do that (hopefully the job will have some type of health plan). To keep living expenses low, buy a cheap (functioning) van and buy a bike. Join a 24 hour gym. Keep the van parked near the gym, just move it around every two days. Ride the bike to work and the casinos (cheap and will keep you in shape). Buy a 5 gallon bucket with a lid, some scoop kitty litter and a litter scooper. Whenever you buy something ANYWHERE ask for it be bagged (double bagged plastic). Go to the supermarket and even if you're not buying vegetables, grab a bunch of veggie bags from the roll. Do your business in the litter bucket then scoop it out, put it in the bag and throw it away. This will keep your living expenses INSANELY low and you'll still be able to not look (or smell) like a homeless person (gym showers). Once you build your roll big enough you can take on more expenses.

Low stakes poker on the weekend in Vegas is a great way to supplement your income. If you can play a decent game of poker, put some of your bank aside for that. I don't mean good at SBR poker. I mean, live, sit down at the table with real money poker. If you have a question about if you are good or not, go to a casino/poker room near you, play about 10 different prolonged sessions. At that point if you've won 7 out of 10 sessions you're alright. Before sitting at a table, watch it first. I mean BELOW the table. See if guys are nudging each other or something to that effect (happens everywhere). Watch to see who is playing who soft. Be patient and pick your spots. More easy money at the lower stakes than the big tables. Read Sklansky's "Small Stakes Hold'em; Winning Big with Expert Play" This is THE best low stakes poker book.

Not too hard to make $200 on a weekend at low stakes in Vegas (with the van idea that's more than your weekly living expenses), you just have to be patient and spend long hours at the tables (and learn who is who). During the week it's a little tougher as it's mostly regulars. Be prepared for the swings though and avoid tilt.

Have fun but avoid the party lifestyle, you're not there to party just yet. Party when your bank is big, for now, it's business. Establish a routine/schedule (your body will thank you for it). Live as cheap as possible.

    Good luck.

To be fair, there are far bigger reasons we are in trouble, but yes this can ruin it for others. People tend to focus on the minority of abusers rather than the kids it is feeding because dad got laid off.

I worked with severely abused kids for 2 years and got laid off so I am on unemployment. I work part time at an after-school program but its not enough to live on. So yes I receive unemployment.

Also, need to point you, you do not make more off of unemployment than at a regular job. I take in far less than I did while working. You do have to keep looking for work though, and I am not sure how he is addressing this.

Anyways, to the original poster, how old are you?
