Post Alabama vs. Clemson (August 30)

I think this game is going to be awesome. It's in Atlanta, first prime time game of the season. Alabama and Clemson are both going to be ranked in the preseason most likely Clemson around 17 and Alabama around 21. Saban has already noted that alot of freshman will be starting for the tide but we all know the talent thats in that class.. What are your thoughts?

If John Parker Wilson is as good as they are saying he has been this offseason i think they have a good shot of having a successful year. Im still looking at Alabama to finish about 8-4.. All of their tougher games are on the road this year.

Clemson has a tendency to start of seasons red hot, don't like Alabama's chances

Lol.. Alabama I think will surprise people this year. I would never doubt a Saban coached team. As his recruits start to saturate the system, you will see a new Alabama than in recent years

I like Clemson to win this game but I just dont know bout the cover. The reason is because Clemson O line is a big question. I dont care how good your Offense is, If you dont have a good O line then everything is irrevelant. I expect Bama to blitzing 605 of the time! But if I would take this game I'll take Clemson to pull it out in the end by 7 or 8.

I'd need at least 7, probably more like 8 to consider Alabama here...my biggest concern is John Parker Wilson's inability to convert TD's in the red zone...the team settles for far to many field goals (although Tiffin is a great kicker)...Clemson has a lot of fire power and I really like QB Harper...

Pags, it's great to see you in here buddy as I respect your opinion. Are you saying that you are leaning towards a Clemson cover or just sitting on the bench on this one? I am actually leaning towards Bama with 6 points and here is why: I do not see why we should be impressed by this Clemson team. They lost two out of their last three ball games last year and they didn't beat a single top 25 team the entire season. Yeah they had a big win over South Carolina, but that South Carolina team was without 4-5 defensive starters and they still only beat them on a last second field goal (The Gamecocks still covered). FSU was a solid win, but FSU was still just a 7 win team. As for this year, all I see is a Clemson team that is without their two All-ACC offensive lineman from last year and they really didn't even protect Cullen Harper all that well with them. Defensively, they are solid up front and in the secondary, but they lost their top 3 linebackers from last season and are going to be very weak at all three positions. Bottom line: This is not Maryland, Virginia, UNC, or some other ACC scrub that Clemson will be playing, this is a solid SEC ball club and they will come to play. Clemson is all finesse and very little physical toughness. I look for Alabama to come into Atlanta and knock them right in the mouth. The X Factor: Saban is a much better coach than Tommy Bowden(who is the best in the business at coaching top 25 talent out of the top 25). Good coaches typically rebound nicely in their second year and I look for Saban to continue that trend. Neutral field, comparitive talent, and better coaching= Bama Cover. That is just how I am seeing it. I also think this line may get to the 7 you mention (the public is just buying this Clemson team right now). Pags, tell me why I am crazy to feel this way buddy. I look forward to hearing more of your opinion on this game.

With all of Bama's suspensions, freshmen playing, players arrested and JPW I don't see how anyone could take them even if they were getting 10. Alabama will not average 21 points a game in the "big" games, Clemson included. They have no linebackers and the defense will be as bad as its been in years. Give me Clemson as I laugh to the bank.

Does anyone think that is a good thing? I don't. The best thing about freshman is that they become sophomores. You don't want your team depending on freshman right out of the box.

its a good thing for alabama... the way i see it is if the same group of guys start and play this year as they did last, we arent looking for too much to happen... Saban's LSU team was extremely young when they had their first lights out season... we'll see

Rule #1: Always take the points on neutral field.

Rule #2: Read Rule #1

Yea well when your true freshman are names like: Julio Jones, Jerell Harris, and Burton Scott(all 5* prospects) then you have nothing to worry about.
They will play like seniors, just like Floridas frreshman did the year they won it all.

The Saban Kool Aid is very strong and potent, and looks like it is available to all those that choose to drink it.

Naturally, you have to give a coach a couple of years to fully incorporate his system onto a football team.. it takes over half of the starters being HIS recruits to make it HIS team. Alabama without a doubt will be better than last year.. How much better is the question.. LSU is going to have an off year, they will be back but this year will be a disappointment for the defending national champion... Alabama's only TRUE contender in the West is Auburn...

Correct me if I am wrong, but did Julio Jones win the Alabama High School State Football Championship? I didn't think so. So he will help Bama win the West in his first year, when he couldn't dominate high schoolers he was better than less than 8 months ago. 5 Star Recruits are available every year, and I can think of only one that put his team over the top his first over the past decade:Adrian Peterson took OU to the championship game as a true freshman. Let me know when Julio, Jerell, and Burton do that. Get back with me then.

This is the dumbest comment i have ever read... Last time i checked, 1 player doesnt take a team to a championship game.. its a team effort.. There are a ton of 5 star recruits who never made it to a state championship game... Re-read that comment and try again..
