No team with Sidney Ponson and Darrell Rasner in its rotation can be the best team in baseball. Sorry.
Here's why Boston wins the division:
Remaining games home/away -- Red Sox (33/25), Yankees (26/34), Rays (25/35).
Yankees will win the WC, though.

Yanks have very good pitching but can break down at any time, pitching is what is keeping Yanks hot not hitting. The Yanks are a bad hitting team.

when the brewers get a closer, then they will be up there
when they learn to play defense, that will help too

Torres has been fine. Starters win championships. No team is even close to the Brewers top 3 of Parra, CC, and Sheets. (Unless the Rays call up Price.)

i would argue that harden and zambrano and lilly oand dempster are close to those top 3. parra is no better than lilly or dempster.
torres is ok, what about the rest of the pen?
the brewers also dont know how to field, rickie weeks, bill hall, branyan, and fielder are AWFUL fielders

They are top five, like usual. Only one best a season ... Yanks had that in 96, 98, 99 and 2000 ... take away free entry because of the WC and you could add 2001 and 2003 ...

i dont htink you can remove the wc because it would benefit your argument
take away 96 an 98 and yanks only have one more ws than az the last 10 yrs

The Wild Card has sometimes made sure the hottest, not the best, team has become the champion.
Yanks were the best every year they won the title, as they never had to back their way into the playoffs, WC style.

than i guess the yanks should beat the wild card team. if az got all the way to the ws, with unit and schilling, i dont think they were the hottest, just the best
and mariano rivera had plenty of chances to finish it and didnt
you are making excuses for a team bc you are their fan, thats lame to me

Nah, just never been a fan of the wild card. Most wild card teams don't get to the playoffs because they were the best team. Matter of fact, they weren't even the best team in their own division over a 162 game season.
You know that, right?

I guess I'd love it too if my team needed it, year after year, to have a chance to make it into the playoffs ... as a Yankee fan, all the wild card has done is allowed teams that didn't earn their way in by winning their division into the playoffs, thereby forcing them to win more games to have a chance at the series ... the wild card has, for all intents and purposes, done away with dynasties ...
Yanks, from 1996 to 2001, will be the last one for a good, long while ...
