I stopped listening to Metallica after And Justice for All album. They sold out and then the Napster stuff really pissed me off as well.

What is your definition of "selling out"?

Old Metallica is great. Right the Lightning is awesome.

Let's use the above from Right the Lightning as the ghost banning song of the forum.

They use to have long 7-8 minute songs up through And Justice for All album. They had a lot of die hard fans that loved the way there songs were not the typical 3:30-4 minute songs.

They freely admitted that they were going to shorten their songs to be more radio friendly.

Besides the shorter songs they changed their sound too. Was not as heavy and I absolutely hated the Black album. Load was even worse. I sold the Black album after I listened to it a few times and have never bought another album from them since. I am glad to hear someone saying they are going back to their old sound but I have given up on them.

Just my opinion and if you like them still good for you I saw them live back in 90 and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

Too bad they aren't playing ANY of the new stuff, this show is essentially the same one you got 10 years ago.

Metallica peaked in about 1992.

I saw them live 16 years ago. Dang, I must be old! They were playing with Guns 'n Roses, but Metallica was the real deal.

I have seen 7 concerts live and each involved Metallica.. Best opener for them was Days of the New in '98

That Napster thing, what a joke. Nothing like rock n rollers protecting corporate interests.
Some great innovative style from Kill em all ---and justice. Still listen to Right The Lightning regularly.

Have to admit I liked some stuff from black album.-- The Unforgiven. But yeah they've been done for a long time.

Anybody that saw "Some kind of moster" can see what sellouts they became. I did hear that the new stuff is supposed to be going back to their original style so I will give it a chance.

I'm always amazed at how much depth and meaning there was or is in Heavy Metal lyrics. From Black Sabbath to Rage Against The Machine. You'd think that their fans or the public in general would have a more enlightened political and social perspective by now. Do they just not understand the lyrics? Does anybody else feel this way?
I mean how can bands that preach justice, anti-authoritarianism, equality, and so on be so popular in a society that respects none of these things?

I have learned a lot by listening to heavy metal. It's not appreciated by society but at least I understand what they are singining about whereas in rap I have no clue what the ******s are talking about.
