Exclamation Giants trade Shockey to Saints!

  • Jeremy Shockey has finally gotten his wish.

The Giants have agreed to trade their disgruntled tight end to the New Orleans Saints for a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick, FOXSports.com has learned. The deal is pending league approval, according to a league source. Shockey must also pass a physical.

The compensation is the same the Saints offered New York back in April prior and during to the draft ... and it was turned down.
Win/win for both parties, Giants get rid of a locker room distraction and Saints get better.

Mark me down as in left field, but Kevin Boss isn't a Shockey. Bad deal.

Shockey was a top 20 pick, he's in his prime, and all they can get is a 2nd rounder? bad deal.

Goes to show you just how strained that professional relationship is, they were willing to just about give him away.

Great deal for Saints, improves their offence no ends. Giants though, they're left with a hole at tight end. Boss looked good, but can he cut it for 19 games a season? I'm not sure

pff, Shockey sucks...

He is not worth a 1st rounder, if randy moss is only worth a 4th rounder...

The Moss trade was nothing short of highway robbery, this isn't too bad but some value was left on the table because of how badly they wanted to deal him (Shockey).

Good move for both teams.

Manning is a quiet leader. Shockey is a street fighter who doesn't respect that. Shockey can't be the leader in the dressing room, because it undermines Manning.

Saints looking good with Shockey.

Another good deal for both teams. Saints need all the help they can get, Giants need to get the loudmouth outta NY.

This complete weirdo on Myspace seems to think the Saints can bounce back. That is what he's talking about, right?

Default Shockey has promised to get revenge on Giants

Newsday

Even though the Giants apparently have done exactly what Jeremy Shockey asked them to do - trade him to the Saints - the tight end previously told reporters from Newsday's Kidsday in a video interview that he will be looking for revenge when he takes the field against his old team.

"If the team trades me, I promise you I'm going to make them pay," Shockey told the youngsters during a promotional appearance in Queens in early June. "If I ever get a chance to play against a team that trades me, it's not going to be a pretty sight."

The Giants and Saints are not scheduled to meet this season, but could both be playoff contenders and possibly meet in the postseason. The teams are scheduled to play in New Orleans in 2009.

Oh yea were back! I jus hope Vilma, Gay, Ellis, McCray, and Porter can be the answer for our D! It should be the answer because our O will put up around 35 a game!

We'll be 13-3

Great to hear the optimism. Think that prediction was a little bold but I can certainly make a case for it happening.

Saints are a terrific team, but they really needed this type of player at the TE position to take pressure off Brees & the passing game in general. I think Shockey will be good medicine for this offense and will completely open up the passing game as well as the running game. Yes, Shockey is the kind of help that the Saints absolutely needed.

Now the Saints defense still has a few questions, IMHO. But I'm impressed with the offseason moves, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until I see how these moves materialize in terms of a team concept.

But, yes. I do like the Saints in 2008! Brees deserves to be mentioned amongst the best QBs in the NFL. I expect big things from the Saints in 2008. Lighten up, dude.
