this years bracket was almost impossible to predict with all the parity.i had 38 entries in bet royals final 8 contest for $50000,and unfortunately all picks are dead.fun to watch though.if this doesnt teach one to take the points in this tourney nothing will.i pity the large favorite moneyline players.the houses must have cleaned up this time

this is the first time a #1 seed since 1980, that a #1 seed didn't make it to the final 4

A couple of those #1's just flat out choked. How about Memphis? They were like 16 of 60 from the field?? Well, these are kids and this is a pressure cooker for sure..this is the first time a #1 seed since 1980, that a #1 seed didn't make it to the final 4

clark kellogg must feel like a complete fool. he kept swearing up and down, that this year all 4 number one seeds would reach the final 4.

I disagree that these teams shooting poorly are actually choking. If you watched that Memphis game, they were defended as well as humanly possible and the refs were letting them play. The same happened to Duke and Villanova. All these 1-seeds looked great when the refs were calling everything in sight, but when the officiating philosophy becomes "Let them play" as it often does later in the tournament, the better defensive teams shine.Originally Posted by SBR_John
Take for example the Duke v LSU contest where KK ReDick got blanketed by Garrett Temple. If that had been a regular season ACC contest, Duke would have won by 20 because the ACC officials would have called about 17 fouls on ReDick's defender (Temple would have foulded out 10 minutes into the contest) and the game would have taken on a completely different tone. This is the PRIMARY reason that Duke exits the tournament regularly once they get past their first two rounds of free passes.
Think about it in this context: In one specific trip down the court, one set of refs say, "That's a foul. You get two points." Another set of refs say, "That's great defense. You turned the ball over." Imagine that scenario multiple times in a single game and you can easily see why the officiating makes a huge difference in these games. Anyone capping college basketball without giving thought to the style of officiating that will be taking place, is shooting themselves in the foot.

i heard an interview that tim brando had with billy packer during the week of the sweet 16. billy packer dodged every question possable in regards to what he said on selection sunday. Tim Brando kept refraizing his questions to get Packer to crack, but he just kept on dodging those questions.Originally Posted by The Great One
was billy packer getting paid money under the table to promote the ACC on selection sunday or something, because it sure sounded that way to me. even dick vitale was being fair about some of those un-just selctions.
