Default Martingale didn't work so well for me...

went to the poker room last night, long wait for tables so i wait for awhile but get bored and sit at $5 min/$100 max BJ table. figure i will just win a few bucks martingaling (yes i know dumb) before my table gets called.

    1st hand -$5 Loss
    2nd hand -$10 loss
3rd hand - $15 loss (figured i would get back to even and make smaller bets to get more bets if things go bad)
    4th hand- $25 loss (above)
    5th hand- $45 loss
    6th hand -$100 loss

Can't believe my run on FIRST 6 hands so i move up to $25 min $300 max

    7th hand- $200 loss
    8th hand- $300 loss

    and bye bye bankroll

i lost my first 8 hands, given a 50/50 chance to win (actually only 48% roughly). the odds to loose first 8 are 1/512

maybe i will eventually learn the lesson that playing -ev games is not a good idea no matter how bored i am. Unfortunately I'm a slow learner.

You know what that means... double up again! 1/1024 chance you lose 9 in a row!

Did you really think that a 500 year old losing system was suddenly going to work for you? String of bad luck for sure, but you should have just went to the craps table and made flat bets on the pass and come.

That blows, here next to the poker room are tv's with the games on and a decent place to grab some food, learned over time that going in either wait or don't play. There is always another day.

wow bad luck on first run. martingale is good if you need a few extra dollars quick. if youre at a casino, need like a extra 40 or 50 dollars. hit the roullette table for a little while and baddaboom . lol , but theres a small chance you go broke.

Martingale has been a losing system since the cavemen sat around the campfire betting their stone tools with each other.

I would of martingaled some Roulette if anything while waiting for the poker table.

Sit out a couple rolls, and wait for them to hit 2 straight of 1 color, then jump on the other color and ride that til it hits.

Before commenting, I wanted to make sure you were the same guy who acted like a total jerk back on July 22nd and lo and behold it was you.

Therefore, I find what happened with your Martingale blackjack session pretty much deserved.

    Karma's a bitch, isn't it?

no i didn't think it was a +ev system. There is no way to actually come out ahead in blackjack anyways(unless you count cards) but as i said i was just bored waiting for a table.

Martingale system works - you just need unlimited bank roll and no limits.

The amazing thing with the Martingale is thatīs so many has to be proven wrong before believing it will fail brutally sooner or later. I actually took quite a hit before I managed to convince myself itīs a totally disastrous system...

Even if you use Labouchere (split martingale), you should bring 1000X the minimum bet to absorb the bad swings. You were toast by the time you sat down.
