These technical glitches are unforgivable.

In the same way that if you play at an F book, part of your "risk management" has to be "if I win, what are the chances I will get paid", if you make an offer at Matchbook, part of your risk management has to be "what are the chances the site will go down AGAIN and I will have no idea what bets I actually have on the table, and get burned".

Has anyone ever gotten burned by Matchbook being down? Please share.

Usually if you hang a number and it doesnt get picked up you can settle for 1-3 cents less and get your full amount.

But there has been times where I put one up and the line is shifting and I dont get the price I want....I just move on at that point.

I have had offers erased when the site when down. I assumed the offer would be put back up when the site went back up. Not the case.

The software stinks. That being said....it's the best lines available for an American. You have to have a few good A backups, thats it.....

its frustrating when the site is down but still my favorite place to play. best prices i can find for most of my rl plays in mlb. the site was real slow about 2 hours ago but i got my plays in.

about 3-4 weeks ago i had about 8k on the sf giants and there system collapsed a about 8:30 cst time and the game was about to start in 30min.....
i got caught onlt able to hedge out of 4k at other books and was forced to play them for 4k......

Thank god this horror story ended up in my favor

I've been fortunate enough never to have had open offers during an outage that lasts 'till game-time.

I've asked this before, but am I really the only one who occasionally logs on to find his balances reading $0.00? After logging out and back in (all the time suffering a minor cardiac event) they are restored to normal.

It's happened to me at least 5 times.

It happens to me frequently too X, so frequently I've stopped worrying about it. I don't even log out/in, it corrects itself in a minute or so normally.

one day this book is going to cost me thousands.. i know it. like for now, i put in a big bet on NYY, and i am not even sure if the bet got in or not, so now i dont even know if i have a bet, so i put in the bet again at WSEX.. so what happens if the bet did go through at matchy when it was back up for 2 seconds.. i dont know, so this could cost me big if NYY lose

this is not right. why should i lose a ton of money on acct of a book always being down like this. i keep asking them to fix their site, but they dont give a sht.

cmon below creditwager ...i wouldnt go to that extreme
they pay fast .....when i do a fedex check it is at my door in 2-3days tops

in order to play at matchbook you must have other outs in the event this happens so you can cover what you have left open in any market
i got caught today heavy minn twins but hedged out at other books which will cost me a little because of juice being higher on boston elsewhere

You know what? It costs you more Nicky, but you'll be right back at Matchbook when they are up and running BECAUSE they are so much cheaper. They are being DOS'd and that is tough to deal with.

Yeah I saw that 11:34 thing too. It's ridiculous. It turned out that one of my offers DID get matched, a bet I had no intention of keeping - SD at -101. When Matchbook was up again, I cancelled all my other offers, none of which got matched, thankfully and hedged out of the SD bet at +104 on the other side.

But that hedge out was after 11:34 EST. So now it appears that my hedge will cancel, but the original match will stand, a position I never for one second intended to keep. I see now that SD is losing, so I will lose money on this.

Now for full disclosure, only $11 of my offer was matched, so I'll only be out $11. But it could have been a lot more, and one day I'm sure it will be if I keep making offers, which I definitely won't ever again.

All this stuff where you have no idea what bets were matched, what bets will get cancelled, what bets will stick, etc etc, is a complete joke, I don't care what juice you are getting. That's not the way betting is supposed to be, either for fun or for profit.

THIS FU-CKIN IS BULLSHIT. I ONCE PUT A BIG BET AND THE SITE WENT DOWN 1 MIN LATER, AND I WASN'T SURE IF IT WAS MATCHED.. NOW IT'S TIP OFF AND I HAVE NO IDEA IF I SHOULD PUT THAT BET ELSEHWERE, BUT IF I DID, I MIGHT HAVE DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF A MAJOR BIG BET HERE. I disagree. I believe they should state that every bet that was matched should stand. Why should a guy who had made a bet a long time in advance, get his bets cancelled?

But I completely agree that this policy of cancelling bets after a certain time is very problematic. A month ago the same thing happened during a celtics-lakers game. Midway through the game a notice also came, that all bets after a certain time would be cancelled.

How do you know that Matchbook does not look at how much their market makers stand to lose/win before they choose which time to start cancelling wagers?

This policy does question Matchbooks neutrality.
