Default rain delay is huge advantage for federer

breaks nadal's momentum, gives more time for nadal to think about things, and dont forget that nadal tweaked the knee yet again in the 2nd set slip and it could be tightening up on him in the locker room.

at the french, a rain delay does not matter coz nadal kills everyone on that surface, but on grass, nadal has never beaten federer anywhere, let alone centre court wimbledon, so you know he's thinking about things

this is wimbledon GOD intervention for federer, just like 2004 vs. roddick, if you dont know what happened there, roddick was up a set on federer and playing well then the rain came and broke roddick's mo, federer admitted after the match that the delay helped him and "probably" hurt andy

federer in 5, especially if they cannot finish today and have to resume tomorrow morning,
last time that happened was 2001 ivanisovec vs. rafter, it sucked to have to watch the rest of the match on a monday morning

I don't really view this rain delay as that much of an advantage for Fed. He was doing fine in the 3rd set before it hit.

Why is it huge advantage? It gives Nadal time to relax, rest and come back to finish Federer off.

if nadal wins, i will come back and say i was wrong, but if federer wins, i wana see how many of you are man enough to come back in here and drop some props for what i am predicting, federer, due partly to the rain delay, will come back and win this match in 5 sets,

if nadal does not close out fed in 4 sets or 3, he will have his confidence destroyed by the 5th set and its lights out baby,

i have no money on the line, i have just seen this scenario before and mentally its tough for the underdog to finish the favorite off in this type of situation

anyhow, federer is 1 month shy of 27, still in his prime, perhaps slightly on the downside, he's got a few things to say at the All England Club before he's done,

i think he'll make a very big statement right now, that he is still the king of grass

If Federer could break him at all when he needed to, he'd be ahead by plenty now

anybody still think the delay did not help roger?

if you do, you know NOTHING about tennis and the mental aspect of the game, but look at the bright side, you're learning about it as we speak

This is such an asinine statement.

Me and BB both thought that Roger was fine before the rain delay. How did it help him? He hadn't broken/been broken yet in the 3rd set, and the same has held after the delay. It's not like Nadal was really outplaying him when the rain started.

it depends. if they come back out (there is only an hr left of daylight to play in), i believe federer still has the advantage, esp since nadal had 4-1 and 5-2 leads in the 4th set tiebreak and lost it, its on my mind, you could see him flashing the number of fingers to his family at the change-over,

anyhow, if the delay lasts overnight, i favor nadal tomorrow because he is the younger guy and should bounce back fresher and stronger, but dont forget federer is a well-conditioned 26.9 yr old,

mentally, nadal should be re-focused by tomorrow, but right now the missed oppty to close out roger in the 4th set is on his mind, he's playing tighter and his first serve is not hitting as often

nadal has oppty's to break in the 3rd, but missed them, the time in the locker room gave him more time to think about things, it gave time roger to think about adjustments in a relaxed environment and not on the court,

one question: did you or did you not watch roddick v. federer in the 2004 wimbledon final?

you and me both, brotha. local time in london is 8:05 pm right now and sometimes they can play til 9:20 pm but that is under ideal daylight conditions, these clouds are anything but ideal as they make it get dark sooner, i say they only have until 8:50 or 9 pm to play, which means they will likely not finish the match tonight ala ivanisovec v. rafter in 2001

So according to your theory Nadal should win the final because the 2nd rain delay broke Federer's momentum.

What a crackhead theory!

Nadal's bruised knee is better for Fed if they finish tonight.

If they play tomorrow it benefits Nadal, the rest will help him greatly.

What a fight, great match hope it ends tonight.
