But mortals, by definition, cannot know much about the true nature of God. It is simply beyond their capacity for the most part.

I've studied all of the major religions to varying degrees, and the only unifying concept I've found between them is primativity. Based on all of the major religions combined, we know less about God now, than we knew about transistor technology 2000 years ago. The only thing we really know is that we don't know. Faith in "God's words" are simply a weapon of political control for the strong against the weak. It's been repeated throughout history. How else can you brainwash young, intelligent, capable people into committing suicide bombings or going to war to kill in the name of some greater cause? If there is a hell, those that speak "God's words" deserve the greatest punishment, IMHO, because God has not yet spoken to us in words.

I think we're a part of something bigger, not really any God in the organized religion sense but rather a greater spiritual energy. I can't imagine that our existence is an anomoly of physics and we are here merely by chance. I can't even hit a 6 team parlay. What are the odds that my wonderful existence was the product of a Big Bang jackpot? I could never win a payout like that. Not that I don't think the big bang is the most likely beginning of our universe but there must be something more to it than that...
