I got a call yesterday from someone saying they were a collector who immediately started yelling, screaming and cursing at me telling me I was already being "downloaded" to the County prosecutor's office and I was going to jail unless I sent $650 within 20 minutes. I was like, "WTF are you talking about." He got even more rude, telling me "DON'T TALK BACK TO ME. YOUR F####### A$$ IS GOING TO JAIL." Any attempt by me to try and get a clue as to what this idiot was screaming about was responded to by more curses and threats.

Getting nowhere, I just hung up. He proceeded to constantly call back for the next 30 minutes, but I didn't answer the phone.

I don't know of any debts that I have and I don't see how they could put me in jail.

Maybe these are the guys creditwagering uses.

There would be a million people in jail right now the way the economy is.

He mentioned a name like "National Bank" or something like that. Since I never agreed to pay this, we never really got to the point of him telling me where to send the money.

The conversation was like this:

Dumbass collector: ARE YOU GONNA PAY YOUR F###### DEBT RIGHT NOW DEADBEAT OR DO YOU WANT TO GO TO JAIL?

Me: Why should I pay you anything? Why do you think I owe you money?

Dumbass collector: LOOK MOTHERF#####, I"M NOT PLAYING. THEY"RE COMING TO THROW YOUR A$$ IN JAIL RIGHT NOW.

And so on.

I wonder if this BS actually scares some suckers into sending them money.

Like another poster mentioned, nobody is going to jail for not paying a credit card or bank payment. With the financial situation in the US - 20% of the country would be behind bars...

step 1.first thing to do is get as much possible info on the person calling as you can then tell to call back the following day to discuss this matter further.[playing their side]
step 2.ask for the original agreement contract giving them a right to collect.[if i owe a company they never had a right to sell my debt to companyb]this also is a clear privacy violation
step 3.go to your local courthouse and file a suit against company i forgot the exact kname of it,the company will have to pay for sure.

once you have done the above steps you can clear your credit,and other debts alot faster than the the normal removal process

Cant be real, any collection agency knows it is highly illegal for them to threaten jail. Unless this guy can not afford the dollar menu cause he works off commission and everyone avoids his calls so he just snapped. Just go off on the guy and say you recorded the last call and it is going to his company and the feds, he will change his tune (if it is legit)

CW said they had the Hall of Fame of collectors and that they did other things such as porn chargebacks. Maybe the $650 is for chargebacks from porn sites
