Default Olympics: As close to a sure thing as you can get at -300

COUNTRY WITH MORE GOLD MEDALS- BEIJING 20088 /04 /08
24925 CHINA -300

The US is next at +165 then Russia at +1600. This reminds me of the Obama will be the Demo Nominee bet at -400 after he clinched the nomination LOL. Basically free money.

I looked at the Greece totals. USA only had a few more than China. So with the host nation always getting more than their normal share I agree China is a near lock.

But having said that do not bet them at -300. Lots of places have them at -200 or better.

Really?? I could only find this one at Bookmaker. Can you name where you saw the best odds?

The basketball gold is just 1 medal. There are a zillion events and China has trained and invested the most in history for this Olympics. I'll lay the price gladly.

I think they award one team gold metal to basketball winners. It does not count as 15 individual gold metals.

Olympics are the new way to show power. China has been doing everything they can to show they are dominant physically. I like the bet.

China has it all, judges, home crowd, anti-american, adapt to the smog and a full court press to win of the likes never seen before. Moneybookers wont take my action. I'm just going to peck away at this with different books. This will probably get to -440 in a couple of weeks.

our women and men swimmers are going to be hard to go against.
Gay will probably get the 200 and maybe 400 in track.
Shawn Johnson, that little fireplug is probably as close to a lock in the gymnastics, especially the floor and balance beam or whatever they're called.
the got BMX events this year i think, and the US and New Zealand and Australia have some kick-azz BMXer's.

i would like to find a bet on whether the Chinese government will let NBC air any protesters or any unforeseen event. I've read about how NBC keeps going back and forth with the Chinese government over what they can show and can't show.

Is China likely to improve on its Gold count from Greece? I realize that typically the home country dramatically improves its medal count, but looking at the totals from Greece, the Chinese really dominated in any events they seemed to have a chance at. They were the only country in the top-ten in medal count to have more than half their medals be gold. To me, it seems this sort of dominance is unlikely to be improved upon. They would have to have worked on other sports-- athletics, cycling, and swimming, for instance, where they were virtually shut out in '04. And considering that two shooting events were dropped (an sport where the Chinese excel), BMX was added in place of the cycling time trial events (events dominated by Europeans in 2004, while BMX should favor the US), and an added athletics event, and I'm not sure the US shouldn't be favored.

You realize that the Olympics have been political every year since they started, right?

From the original Olympics in 776 to the mordern Olympics with the Nazi's using the 1936 games @ Berlin to show off. Then there have been issues with communists, black people, religion, terrorists, etc...I mean jesus, the Olympics is practically the definition of showing off power.

Thanks for the laugh.

there is one more thing you guys need to consider that plays a very important role. chinese atheletes are used to the dirty air in beijing...foreigners are not. do you know a lot of foreign atheletes are training in japan just days before the olympics.
