I was and I am actually getting back into the claiming game currently I have had quarter horses mostly and several sprinters. Alot depends on the jurisidction where you want your horses stabled and where you wanna watch them run. If you have any questions you could ask if i can't help you might at least be able to point you to someone who can

my family has been in the industry for 30+ years

now its just a big waste of time, to many cheaters, hell even the $4500 claimers are going insane times

I never have but know people that have owned horses. Tough way to make money. I don't recommend it.

I have for the past 10 years and still own 4 at the present time. All standardbreds as i enjoyed the prospect of them racing weekly rather than monthly. Nothing more exciting than winning a race.
