You mean something like this, Brent...
My apologies to Gordon Lightfoot…
The troubles arose back in two thousand one
In a city that sits near the Potomac
With Dubya sworn in all hell would break loose
From Afghanistan way over to Iraq.
With a load of bullsh¡t and his buddy Karl Rove
The machine was in place to go crazy
A good country gone bad by man who was mad
When the polls of November are shady.
Concluding some terms with a couple oil firms
They defended their profits with soldiers
And blood from the courage of other men’s sons
Boys destined to never grow older.
Son of Silver Spoon spoke tough on the TV
“I’m comin’ fer ya’ Saddam and Iran, you too”
Later he added that loony Korean
And he labeled them the Axis of Doo Doo
Meanwhile on the home front there was Enron,
I’ll always think Ken Lay got off easy
Whenever I think of the money they stole
Well my big gut can turn quickly queasy
The jobs all dried up or were shipped over East
And the media just kept right on rolling
And every man knew that it was all just due
To a November election that was stolen
The midterms in two thousand-six brought the Dems
Full of promise and hope and more bullsh¡t
But nothing much changes when all that you got
Is a Congress chock full of real dimwits.
Now the elephants say that their man is McCain
And the donkeys are going with Barack
And neither man knows, or least has not said
How he’ll bring our boys home from Iraq
While gas prices soar and our homes are foreclosed
We look back and try to remember
A time back before the Bush Era roared
Back before two thousand November.
