Default Mohegan Sun Casin. "Half an hour between free drinks on casino floor."

Either this waitress was new at the job, or they are having some problems down there with the liquor commission.

    I was not drunk.

I tipped $5 for my first beer. Usually I'm sitting in the area for a while, and want them to come by regularly.

I have no problem with their rules; however, I've been going there since the place opened, and have never seen this.

When I went to order a second beer, she informed me of the 30 minute policy and said she'd be back.

CT is a pretty lame state regarding alcohol rules. I've seen them cut off people at Mohegan Sun - they take a photocopy of their ID as proof they did it. Really embarassing and lame.

was in the racebook and they kept coming around too often. however, i have noticed they have cut back on many things (cost cutting measures i'm sure) for example they rotate the mutuel clerks to work the program stand to save hiring a program stand person. they raised the price of their awful race programs .50. you can notice that the crowds are down about 10pct. they are hurting and so is that dumpy foxwoods casino down the road. (resembles a train station with no customers). they can only drain so much money out of people and then they cut back on services and perks. 5 dollars way too much to tip a waitress i don't care how much you have. the drinks are supposed to be free but 1 dollar is expected. never heard of anyone tipping 5.

Not surprising to see the cutbacks. Mohegan Sun use to spend a lot on perks years ago. Before they even had the hotel yet was the time to head there - all sorts of stuff they'd do for you to get business then.

    Exactly.

Hell, if I was serving and someone tipped me five bucks for a drink, I'd be back every five minutes!

That is pretty poor ! It's not like the booze is that expensive. I guess you could just move to a different part of the casino ?

That is most likely the reason he tipped that much.

Foxwoods is way cooler. I've been flat out hammered (and obviously so)
at Foxwoods many times and never had a problem getting a drink.

This was in the paper yesterday regarding the Mohegan Sun in PA, maybe they made some corporate changes as a result of this:

PLAINS TWP. – An official with the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs casino said management is considering whether to appeal an administrative law judge’s decision to fine the facility $8,000 for two separate incidents involving the sale of alcohol to a visibly intoxicated person and sales to minors.

Bobby Soper, chief executive officer of the casino, expressed frustration over the state’s “draconian” liquor laws, which he feels are unfair because they do not take into account efforts establishments take to prevent violations.
The casino was cited for serving alcohol to two underage females on Aug. 26, 2009 and serving alcohol to an intoxicated person on Jan. 30, 2009.
According to Soper, the underage citation related to two 19-year-old women who entered the casino with two other persons who were of legal drinking age. All four patrons were carded by employees.
One of the four displayed a fake ID, Soper said. The second underage female had no ID and was served only water. Unbeknownst to employees, those who were of legal drinking age slipped alcohol to the female who did not have identification, Soper said.
Soper said Mohegan Sun contested the citations because it believes its employees did everything they could to prevent the violations. Those efforts did not matter to the Administrative Law Judge Daniel Flaherty, who ruled against the establishment in a decision issued on Oct. 27.
“In all instances our team members followed the rules. It’s unfortunate we had some underage persons who abused the system,” he said. “Part of the problem is the state has a strict liability policy. No matter how much diligence you use, if someone under age sneaks in or does something with a fake ID, you are still held liable.”
The citation for serving an intoxicated person was the second the casino has received for that violation. It previously was cited for the same issue in March 2007.
Soper said the casino takes compliance with state liquor laws very seriously. It requires all employees who serve alcohol to undergo state training, even though the state requires only 50 percent of employees to receive that training.
In the latest incident, Soper said the bartender remains convinced that the person in question did not appear intoxicated.
“That’s a very subjective thing. The bartender still believes, based on their perception, that the patron was not intoxicated,” Soper said. “Reasonable minds differed on that, so we contested it.”
Flaherty had originally imposed a two-day suspension and a $3,000 fine. He later vacated that ruling, opting instead to issue a more significant fine.
Soper said the casino did not seek to alter the penalty. That decision was made by Flaherty, he said.
The casino could appeal Flaherty’s ruling to Luzerne County Court. Soper said officials still reviewing the matter and have not yet made that decision.

Yeah - seems like they will want to tighten up at least for a while given this. I imagine they'll loosen up again after New Years.

In Colorado they had a 60 minute wait at the Lodge. Cut me off at 1:00 in the afternoon for drinking to much. Went next door to Ameristar and they brought them every 5 minutes.

I was at the Hilton in Vegas today. I told the waitress i didnt want another beer but she brought one anyhow. Fuch, i was shit faced for the 2nd half of the late games. The sportsbook is the best and the alcohol keeps coming and you dont need a ticket.
