Obama's Monkey Doll
Monkey doll named for Obama called racist
48 minutes ago
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah company offering online a sock monkey named for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says it didn't mean to anger anyone with a "cute and cuddly" toy that some are calling racist.
"We simply made a casual and affectionate observation one night, and a charming association between a candidate and a toy we had when we were little," according to a statement issued Saturday by Sock Obama LLC.
Jeanetta Williams, president of the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, called the toy "pure racism at its extreme."

Altough I wouldnt call it "pure racism at its extreme." , I could see how it could be rasist...
Now if someone were to make a mccain doll with a sheet over its head and said "lets get Obama" That would be extreme racism.

That's cute but I can see how some people would find it offensive.

Curious George
Two weeks ago I posted that he looks like Curious George.Someone then posted a current Curious George strip and it did resemble him.I told everyone that he looks like the older, non politically correct non caucasion-ated Curious George from the 60's and 70's.The public school system in this country discovered that Curious George looked too black in the 80's and gave him a more neutral look where he doesn't resemble any race of people.
What's the deal with people being offended by their race or nationality's favorite food? It's not stereotyping a Germanic person assuming they probably like sausage and sour kraut,it's what they eat.Sure, not every German eats it but the majority of them do.I never heard a German person get pissed at a minority if the minority person says that they most likely will be eating sausage and kraut at a ball game.
Go to any black area of a big city and what do you see?Fried chicken and rib joints.Tell a black person that he probably likes that kind of food and it's considered a racist stereotype.
Has anyone ever heard a black man yell and scream about being racially stereotyped by whites as having a large schlong?Nope,,,you never hear blacks get offended when whites assume and talk about that.hehe!

Cappy,at a former job I worked with a bunch of guys that resembled the Sweathogs on Welcome Back Cotter.I didn't know what mixed races they were and some were like Juan Epstein,Puerto Rican Jews.mixed everything.I had a few family celebrations ''eastern european people''so I used to bring in left overs for the crew. They started teasing me in good natured fashion that everytime I went somewhere I must just eat sausage. If I said I went to a graduation party, they asked if I ate sausage,a funeral, did you eat sausage. It NEVER bothered me because it was funny and true!!!!
I admire Tiger Woods but I think when Fuzzy Zoeller who's a joker of the 1st degree said that The Masters Dinner will probably have fried chicken because Tiger the champ got to pick the menu,Tiger over reacted by getting ticked off.Sure,Fuzzy probably said it with a bit of an edge and should have realized how politically correct society has become but he shouldn't have been ruined by it like he was.Woods could have squelched the controversy by smoothing it over and he didn't.

Yeah it's ok, I'm just kidding. I'm not at all racist, but I do think it's funny that there are two dirty sides. The actually racist side, and the group of people who are so afraid to be racist that they can't chill the eff out. It's cool

Why is it harsh? Do you mean socially unpalatable?
