Best Aussie book is Canbet

They are all safe though

Best two Aussie books to have are:

Canbet
Centrebet

Both will take big wagers no problem. I've seen Centrebet advertise they will take $50,000 wagers no problem.

First off, Australian books are usually the safest to play at as far as the security of your funds. So thats something you have to keep in mind.

Heres a little bit about all the books you have mentioned above sir.

sportsodds: They are part of the Centrebet family of books I believe and opened up not too long ago if I remember correctly. Other than that I really don't know much about them in regards to how they are to play at.


betinternet: There parent company is called betinternet.com PLC and is licensed by Isle Of Man. The do offer a live chat service which is very useful to most players. From what I can recall they offer all the Euro sports and some American, and accept a pretty good mix of currency options.

If memory serves me correctly you might remember the prior manage was there was under Offshore Betting Ltd and was London Stock Exchange, but not sure if they still are or not.

From what I can tell they don't have any slow pay or processing issues to report at this time, however they are like most other books in regards to "you better have your paperwork in order" in order to get your withdraw fairly quickly.


betworks: They are located in Canberra (Australia's capital city), and launch new web platform back in late February, 2008. I do remember that they were offline for like 5 years, and like you said above. They are now under Asian ownership and are currently focusing on soccer wagering mainly. I have not read anything at all about any slow pay complaints out there at all, so I would have to assume they are paying on promptly. Now as far as limiting and the restriction of play goes, thats something I don't know. Hopefully another SBR forum member will give some personal experience feedback on them though.


sportsbetting.au : Is owned and operated by Hamish Davidson Gaming and are licensed in South Whales. I know they only offer like 4 or 5 different currency options, which kind of sucks for some players. I don't know of any slow pays or complaints about them or couldn't tell you the restrictions they might put on people.


Lasseter : Like JJ mentioned above already. This book has been around for a very long time, and was the first book that was licensed in Europe for an Online Casino back in like 1995 I believe. I don't know of any slow pay complaint or processing issues levied against them at this time. Hopefully some other forum members can expand on this in regards to there personal experiences there.


Betstar: I remember reading back in like late May that they launched spread betting on there website. However, I really don't anything else about them offhand.

Sportsodds and Centrebet are essentially the same. They have set up Sportsodds to bypass legislation for gambling in particular states I believe.

betinternet is not an Australian book.

betworks has no product and is a waste of time. I am not sure how/why they exist.

Hamish Davidson is OK but there are better.

Lasseters is a good book.

Betstar will limit you very quickly and the sport side of their business is just an add-on to their racing business. It is not open 24 hours and your bets will have to wait until they get to the office the next day to be confirmed (or mostly declined). Joke.

I'm surprised that TABSportsbet wasn't mentioned above before you did Trinidad. That particular book is very financially secure. I remember reading somewhere before that they are on pace to hit the billion dollar mark or something to that degree.

They are solid but all australian books are solid as they are heavily regulated by the government and it is not easy to get a license. TAB usually have very poor odds, but they are the most well known and have outlets on every 2nd corner so that is why they make so much $.

Not had any problems with Lasseters. Usually use them for MLB, not come up against stake limits yet (but my biggest stake there was only $1500 US).

Canbet is a nice book, good low juice, have had a lot of action there. Soccer AH lines at 97%, which is fairly tasty. Only mild irritation is they move odds like a demon close to event kickoff, so can be a right pain getting a bet on because they don't hold the odds for 30 seconds or whatever. If it's changed, you have to go back, re-enter stake, try again (and then it's changed again......).

Betinternet has good AH soccer lines occasionally, not the lowest juice but they don't move very fast so can be decent price.

Centrebet take good big stakes. Not the best odds going though.



Never had a payout problem from any of them. Betinternet are very, very quick at e-wallet payouts, centrebet a little slowish (2-3 days).

The TAB is owned by the government. The lines are very juiced up but you can get set for any amount and they will never ban/restrict you.

The Canbet/IAS soccer prices are sourced from a feed from an Asian bookie, hence, the rapid, asian style price movements.

Since I can't play at either of these two Australian books, give me your thoughts about Sportsacumen and GlobalSportsBet gentlemen. I realize they are under one, however I do find it odd that they both don't offer Neteller.

i have heard and red conflicting reports about them,apparently they have gone "British"since last year.Some have said elsewhere that they(Canbet/Centrebet) will cut you in a finger snap,PINNACLES they are not?
What do you think?,
i was interested in using Canbet last year for the NHL before i found out about the exchanges,Canbet claim on their website to take 15k NFL and3.5kNHL.
However under their limit section,they give conflicting messages:
*"Our Internet limits are amongst the largest available online. Larger amounts are available via the Telephone".
but they also say just after:
*"Canbet reserves the right to vary a Customer's bet limits."
that's the dead give away

Their 1x2 prices are the same, at least. Asian handicap prices look to be the same origin too, just higher juice at canbet.

I used to be signed up with a number of Australian books. Never had a problem. Unfortunately, they no longer accept United States customers.

Does anyone know of any Australian based sportsbooks that allow buying points on NBA games.

Centrebet only offer "alternate lines" at +/- 5 points

IASbet only allow buying 0.5 points either way.

Any ideas? I'm after a sportsbook that allows the flexibility of buying your choice of points on the spread.

There is no good reason to bet soccer at Canbet as they nick SBOs' odds and then add some juice so they are never best price,if they lose the feed and you place a bet be prepared for it to be voided.
Centrebet limit severley,aussie books are safe though.
