Default no respect for the Celtics, they'll earn it

they'll earn it on the court, where they are the better defensive team in just about every category, and they have the best big man on the court. it matters. many people in public and media will be eating crow when this is done. BOSTON CELTICS all day long baby

i'm surprised at the amount of media and public who are all over the lakers, completely discounting that the lakers have not faced a team defense as excellent as the celtics all season long. what happened to "defense wins championships?" the lakers will be forced into being a one-dimensional jump shooting team and this will spell disaster for them, i think.

celtics = better defense, big men kg and perkins patrolling the lane, sending the shots back, shot blocking, gonna turn the lakers into an outside shooting team, not lookin good for the lakers, does anybody else see this?

celtics are gonna turn it into a slow down, grueling, grind out game, which favors them, playoff basketball, the uglier the games look the worse the lakers will look

I agree that the Celtics are great defensively hoopster, but the Lakers defense is not nearly as bad as their numbers would lead you to believe. A lot of the points they allow is a direct result of the pace they play at, and when they WANT to play defense, they have shown to be capable when it matters. Heck, all five games of the San Antonio series went Under, so it is not as if the Lakers can't win low-scoring games.

The only series bet I've made is Lakers in exactly 5 games at +410, and as for individual games, I have Lakers +130 ML tonight, and if they lose I will bet 1% of BR more on Lakers ML in Game 2 assuming they are at least +120.

The series line is inflated because Boston hasn't been that impressive in post season. The betting value is with Boston.

Total games played in playoffs

Lakers 12-3 Celtics 12-8

Whenever there has been a large gap in games played going in to the finals the team that has played the fewest has always won.

I wonder how many teams in history have won when they have the home court advantage? the better defensive fg pct? more reg season wins?

we can spin this either way abt historical ref's

Agreed, Celtics are justifiably favored for g1. Mind you, when given the odds of +4 or +140 I like LA.

Well Lakers have certainly looked better. They pretty much hammered a strong Western Conf draw.

But I think I would have made the line BOS -4 at home and LA -5 at home.

LOL

I went to sleep soon after that too, as I knew the gambling gods were not with me tonight. But that's ok, the Lakers will take the next four straight.

Obviously, the biggest game in the series for them is Game 2. They won't lose any of the middle three at home.
