Big Brown will have his final workout before the Belmont Tuesday morning. The foot is planned to be patched either Friday or Saturday morning. The workout will be without the acrylic patch on the quarter crack. The media will be all over this story. The is a picture of the crack on the front page at www.drf.com

A quarter crack is a normal occurance in race horses so I don't think it is really anything to be too concerned over but i feel Big Brown is most vunerable in the belmont.

Big Brown worked five Furlongs in 100.3 Tuesday morning. Published reports state the Big Brown camp is breathing a sigh of relieve after this morning workout. The quarter crack was described as being a 4 out of 10 with regard to severity.
Question for G.O.C. Handicapping aside how would a injury like this effect a race horses's preformance during a race?
My school of thought is that the major danger is at the beginning of the race . If so Kent may just ease out of the gate at the start. Would an off track have an effect with an injury like this?
