The ring walks and intros are too much like WWE. Plus I wonder if they are not stopping the fights very quickly, since it is on network TV. Chic fight coming up, wonder what these women are like in the sack?

This broad fighting Carano is tough and you can get her at almost 3 to 1. I just cashed against that stiff job Baroni Its like printing money when that stiff fights Gina Carano didn't make weight. A fuking disgrace but since she is hot you don't hear much. Great . Got to root against her tho.

This was a terrible production. And the Slice fight was fixed.

Terrible introduction for MMA to primetime.

The Lawler/Smith fight was excellent, although I am not sure that I agree with the draw

In a world of non-fixed fights, Rogers should have fought Slice. James Thompson is a clown and the fact that he came out with overly inflated cauliflower ear makes it look like they were just waiting for that thing to explode to end the fight. EliteXC had too much on the line for Slice to lose.

The fights that SHOULD have been the highlight of the weekend were the Faber/Pulver and Miguel Torres/Yoshiro Maeda. There is something to be said about the little guys. AMAZING fights.

Outside of Pulver, has Faber, Torres, or Maeda fought for UFC?

This had XFL written all over it IMO. I thought the problem in both was that it is full of rejects from a better league. It's like putting minor league baseball on and trying to sell the players as stars. Mark Cubans upcoming deal or Bodog's previous events would probably have worked.

Miguel Torres vs Yoshiro Maeda

^^ this fight was awesome imo. that simultaneous toe-lock was exciting (at the same time, hilarious!)

With CBS and ad money, it has to improve if it can survive questionable card for a while. UFC is only decent game in town now, so an alternative should be able to make it if they get someone decent running it. The lawler fight was good.

The WEC card was great Sunday night on VS. But of course ... it is owned by UFC.

Bill, I said the exact same thing to Bread the night it was on. The cheesy dancers, the rapper, the dry ice and flashy lights, announcing the artist of the songs each fighter came out to...even the commercials tied into it. TERRIBLE production.

That was by far one of the best fights I've ever seen and probably ever will see. Who would have ever thought that a little spanish guy with a mullet could be so tough.

Did you notice Clay Guida hogging up as much camera time as possible in the audience? It was cracking me up.

Guida and his ridiculous hair has cost us money the last two fights. Never again, until he cuts the mop.

Didn't waste any of my time on that fight, but heard Jim Rome comparing this garbage to the XFL football league. Remember that league that was own by Vince McMahon, and it's brief stint in 97' or 98'. It was good only for a short while.

I thought the same thing. Dozer mentioned it in this thread, too. Whenever you try too hard, you always fail.

They Kinda made it into a spectacal like old UFC days and was seen to allot of people another XFL bust league. Its sad cause MMA is a sport with real athletes these days. If you ever watch EliteXC on Showtime ( Shamrock vs Cung lee and others Elite shows amd Shoxc shows ) they mostly put on a great show and broadcast . CBS and Elite have allot of improving to due or they are cut from CBS and go BK.

Does Bread bet on MMA?

You guys are pretty diverse huh? Cap you some American Idol Clay Aiken style and then compare odds on Kimbo popping the bloody ear off of Thompson.

Yep, he sure does! We usually have UFC payperview parties at our place and everyone bets. Truth be told, he will bet on pretty much anything. MLB, NBA, NFL, MMA, AI, jai alai. I think that we may even get the daytime UFC ppv this afternoon, although I am not all that thrilled with the card.
