first of all Jerry West is not part of the Lakers ownership. He's not even an employee.

Secondly the fans aren't players so therefore do not need to have sportsmanship. Lakers players showed it when they hugged the Spurs players after the game.

Jerry West hasn't worked for the Lakers since 2002. He was basically quit because he felt slighted that Jerry Buss (he's the owner) wouldnt take care of him financially like he did Magic Johnson who was given part ownership of the Lakers. This is why he took a job with the Grizzlies even though he claimed he was burnt out when it was really over money.

He is expected to rejoin the Lakers on a part time basis but he is still an emplyee of the Grizzlies at the moment.

When the Lakers got him they were already good winning at over .600. Sure he's a huge upgrade over kwame but not much over Bynum.
