Default Second signing date moves forward

In a 9-3 vote, the SEC coaches have passed a motion to take before the NCAA to have a one day Signing Day in December. The catch is that if you have taken an official visit prior to that date, you cannot sign, you must wait till February. Petrino, Meyer, and Spurrier voted against the measure.

That would be an interesting change in the college football world of recruiting.

If this info is correct, it makes absolutely no sense. Why would a kid not be able to sign if he has taken an official? Will coaches encourage kids not to visit and just commit over the phone?

Agreed. I guess the NCAA's logic is that if a kid goes and sees one school, he needs to go and see other schools. Problem with that is that there is no requirement for a kid to take an official visit and many High School athletes do not take all 5 official visits.
