I know the question is broad (no pun intended), as what appeals to one person will be neutral to another.

But, let me first give the ussual paramenters: Low crime rate, mild year round weather, good beaches, reasonble housing or rental expenses, secure banking, good internet access, decent restaurants and fresh food in the markets.

Like that. I'm neutral re gambling casinos - I'll play some vid poker if in Vegas, also some live poker,but sports and some horses are my main thing re the risk biz.

A lot of Engliish speakers may be essential for some gringos, but I'm sufficiently fluent to get along. (Not if someone is speaking spanish at the high speed of New Yorkers speaking "English," or chilangos speaking Mexican Spanish)

Obviously, no one place will measure up in all respects,but if anyone, or two, or three has been in or lived in at least two such countries, chime in. (I suspect we can leave El Salvador out. Prob ditto Belize.Panama OK tho, I hear a lot of old gringos going there to retire. Nicaragua? Hmm, maybe not? The islands in the Caribbean?)

Costa Rica of course included. Tho I understand the crime rate there is approaching Mexican propoprtions.

It's St. Martin. looks like an okay place to live.

An old friend of mine lived in Belize in the winters and was stabbed on 3 different occasions. Crime is bad.
