Detroit. Pitt will see a D like they've never seen before and it'll open up some counter attacks.

Penguins beat a bunch of sh*t teams. Only one that had a chance was NYR. Detroit beat a very strong Dallas team, crushed Colorado, and slapped Nashville around.

Detroit -1.5 +181 is very good value

    Exactly!

Plus the Pens are quite young, looking to Detroit to take care of Pittsburgh.

JJ, you know zip about hockey, stick to something you know.

Agreed, Red Wings are the real deal.

Ignorance is very popular in America.

Johan Franzen is one of the wings best players if not the best and he is out for game one look for the Penguins to win tonight and take control of this series.

its not ignorance ,its the nhl doing a piss poor job of promoting the sport. The whole nhl deal with nbc is awful, bettman had 0 selling talents, the versus deal is pretty good but basically the sport[the nhl at least] is basically mismanaged.

the strike and the loss of an entire season was the best example.its a great sport, the nhl just has the worst leadership

The player in my avatar is Mike Palmateer, a Leaf goalie from the 70's.
I was a fan of his as a kid growing up in Toronto.

I understand alot of people (especially in the US sunbelt) know nothing about hockey, I have no problem with that, here in Canada it's a cultural thing, young boys want to grow up to be pro hockey players.

When someone says "I've never watched hockey" I fully understand this too, its not very popular in alot of States.
I hate it when people that never watch the game criticize it or make a comment that demonstrates their ignorance. Not that you are doing this, I'm just saying in general.

Now we have this thread with guys that don't follow the game making bold predictions, I can tell which guys here know there stuff (about hockey) and which ones don't.

I'm already locked into Detroit to win the Cup at +137, I bet it right after game two versus Dallas.

I really don't expect alot from Pitt this year, they will likely be dominated by Detroit.

If you have been watching the games this year you couldn't come to any other conclusion.

A couple of guys here have already made the right play. (Raiders, Mathdotcom)

You should go with the best team in the game angle! Detroit's depth will crush the young Pens!

Are you serious??? With players like Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom how could you ever say that Franzen is the best? He is decent and has had a great playoff run, he is not the best...not even close. The Wings will win, they have the goalie with the best GAA in the league...regular season and playoffs. The Wings can score with four lines and will not tire like the Pens will and their one scoring line. Wings win!

How many Cups did LA win with Wayne Gretzky?? ZERO You need the best TEAM to win...not just one guy.

....BTW...I'm 27-18 in the NHL playoffs this year...that's only plays that pay better than -150...not a bunch of cheap ML wins.

WTF is no one else watching this shit? Great start to the game and the NHL thread is dead. I know most are out watching the game but surely some guys online are picking this over the NBA game?

I am watching! I'm watching Sidney Crosby only get his name on the score sheet by committing a penalty! Malkin had a nice assist on Detroit's second goal.

It's OK. This morning he had only $5. Then he bet it all on Pittsburgh and a bunch of people actually wished him to lose.

It can't get any lower than that.

Penguins are a bunch of kids playing against a very seasoned and smart Red Wings team.

JJ chose to bet on the boys, the men will win the Cup.

coming from a guy who cant even spell his poster name you shouldnt talk.. wtf is a dwaetche anyways. no way that's even a name..

i did NOT misspell it.. i have only heard of these guys. i have never seen them in my life. i might only recognize gretscki because i am from east LA and gretski played here.. i have never watched a hockey game in my life.. so how would i know.. i am from east LA.. once again, i did NOT intentionally misspell these names..

i don't know how you guys can watch that lousy game. we americans hate hockey..

Why even respond? his opinion means nothing.

Oh, Nicky thinks hockey sucks, maybe I should re-think my interest in the game. LOL!

    plommy,

look at where you and that other fruit dwache are from.. you guys are from canada.. duhhhhhhhhhh, of course you are going to like hockey because you grow up watching it everywhere.. it's a religion in canada. but not in EAST LA. if you went out on the street now and asked the 1st 100 people if they ever watched a game, they'd all so NO. no one cares about hockey in the U.S. (96,3% dont)

sorry man, but face reality. only Canadians love hockey, and americans who gamble on it and fans who have teams that play there. like dallas for example.. but do you think any fans would recognize any dallas player on the street? doubt it, because they dont follow it like they follow the Cowboys or Mavs.
