Default The Rome Show: Kobe vs. Jordan.....

Who is this retarded guest host that is fondling Jordan's package on the air? Kobe not as good as Jordan? Kobe not as clutch as Jordan????????

Let's compare Kobe to Jordan, apples to apples:

Jordan without Pippen (HoFer; Top 50 Greatest of Alltime)
    -5 seasons
    -43% winning percentage
-3 playoffs (all 1st rd exits, even though he had HoFer "Iceman" George Gervin one season)
-2 non playoffs, even though he had Rip Hamilton & Jerry Stackhouse in the weak East where .500 teams got in
    -1 career playoff win
    -0 MVPs
    -0 Championships

Kobe without Shaq (HoFer; Top 50 Greatest of Alltime)
    -4 seasons
    -54% winning percentage
    -3 playoffs
    -Conference Finals appearance
    -13 career playoff wins
    -1 MVP
-0 Championships (7 wins away from it)

Oh and comparing Craig Ehlo to Bruce Bowen is retarded. Bowen is considered the best lockdown defender in the league, yet Kobe has avg 28ppg vs. Spurs in the playoffs.

Yes, Kobe does scream at his teammates when they screw up, but at least he doesn't lay his hands on them. Jordan punched out two of his teammates, one of them Suns GM Steve Kerr. He's also been known to freeze out teammates when they dare take the shot instead of passing to his greatness.

    Jordan = NIKE hype

Jordan is best basketball player of all time end of discussion. They are thinking about making the NBA logo into the Jordan logo end of discussion.

Comparing Pippen to Shaq is like comparing John Barry to Wilt Chamberlain end of discussion. Kobe had a much bigger advantage with Shaq than Jordan had with Pippen and the Lakers still needed big shot bob horry to shoot them into their championships end of discussion.

Pippen without Jordan carried the Bulls past the 1st round, something Jordan NEVER could do without Pippen. Pippen even made it to the Conference Finals, something Jordan could never do without Pippen. Pippen is a future Hall of Famer and was named one of the "Top 50 greatest of all time" for a reason.

Lots of people only credit Jordan for those titles but if not for Pippen's lockdown defense on Magic in '91 finals or Kerr & Paxson hitting game winning shots, there is no way Bulls would've won as many titles as they did.

Kobe has done far more without help than Jordan ever could. Kobe should have 3 MVPs right now, he was robbed in '06 when he led the league with 35ppg and almost upset the Suns in the playoffs. Should've also won in '03 when he avg 30ppg and led the Lakers to another championship.

Jordan was swept out of the playoffs in the 1st rd with Hall of Famer & 50 greatest of all time, "Iceman" George Gervin, John Paxson and Charles Oakley playing alongside him. And couldn't even make the playoffs playing with future HoFer Rip Hamilton and NBA scoring champ Jerry Stackhouse while with Washington.

He should really have only one playoff season without Pippen... but the East was so weak that the Bulls make it with 30-52, 37-45 records.

Kobe has a better supporting case now (Since the addition of Gasol), then he did when Shaq was in town. So this holds no weight, I feel anyway.

    Default Jim Rome

Has Jim Rome ever worked three straight weeks? It seems that everytime I turn on his show there is a guest host. He must have the best vacation plan at ESPN.

Ah for goodness sakes with some of you guys. Raiders go fetch some Jordan clips. Jordan was the best offensive and defensive player in the league. End of discussion. Kobe does deserve to be in the discussion tho. Lebron doesn't deserve to be anywhere near it.

Iverson use to get 30 points a game also and he is 4ft 3. When 90 percent of the teams you play during the season stink and you have the ball 90 percent of the time you will score 30.

With that being said, and well thought out.

    Lebron - 30.0 ppg, .484 FG %, .315 3PT %
    Kobe - 28.3 ppg and .459 FG %. .361 3PT %

So if Lebron is so predictable, then he should be shut down with ease.

Where was he the first six games versus Boston?

Game 7 they let him get his, and shut down everybody else completely. You think KING KOBE would play lame 6/7 in a series vs Boston?

look at those numbers. Look at the three point percentage right? Now you look at the regular fgoal percentage when a majority of his shots are dunks. To me Lebron should be closer to 60 percent. Now that just show he has trouble with a jump shot and when he is actually guarded he gets shut down most of the time.

Crazy that is what these guys are famous for. one good game washes everything away. By the way did you ever see Jordan get 45 and the guy he was guarding get 41? Never saw that ever happen

By the way, imagine what Kobe's #'s in the east would be, ESPECIALLY on a team where has has little to no offensive weapons. They'd still lose a bunch of games, but KOBE would average way more than 30ppg playing in Cleveland!

He averaged 26.7 ppg against the Celtics in those 7 games. Not bad I guess. 23.6 ppg in the first six.

I knew the East card was going to be played. So I take it Lebron would average under 20 in the West?

i love how everyone says lebron makes his team better. what makes his team better is that since they all suck, they are left wide open because everyone is watching lebron. lebron can score off double teams because he is strong as a bull.

Now I've heard it all. Those #'s are skewed and you KNOW it, in his first couple games he'd be lucky to have sniffed 8pts without getting to the FT line.

He was a total non-factor. In fact, if his teammates hadn't picked up his slack here and there, this wouldn't have even went 6 games. Not to mention the overwhelming officiating bias in game 6.

LBJ couldn't hit a jumper to save his life until game 7.

    You're better than this, OL...

The main difference between the two.

Jordan lead the bulls to 6 NBA championship with the assistant of Pippen, could of had 8 if he had not semi-retire.

Shaq Lead the Lakers to 3 NBA championship with the help of Kobe, and some miracle shots from Big shot bob and Derek Fisher.

So if Lebron was on the Lakers team as of now, he would average 40? Because he gets more one on ones, or less triple and quad teamed.

This debated can go on forever, and they are both great players and the one with the better "team" is still playing.

For one year and then get ripped by the media for not getting others involved.

Hes not clutch enough to win out west.

San Antonio proved that when they faced eachother in the finals.

And bruce Bowen embarrassed him even backing off of him and daring him to shoot.

Kobe wasn't always clutch either. He didn't have to go out in his rookie year, and years following that and be the man. How many games did he start in his first 2 years? He some other big man to take that load off his back. Lebron had to be the man, right away. There is just up side to his game, he will become more clutch as the years go by.

I'm sure most of you would be pissed if he was to end up on your guys favorite team in the future.

You don't seriously think James is a better player than Kobe, do you?

They are not in the same STATE. Nevermind the same ballpark, they are not even in the same area code, take a look again at the offensive repertoire.
