Default I can't believe the silly things people are saying about Derrick Rose.....

"He'll be better than Chris Paul!!!!!" - some lunatic on Covers
"He'll be an all-star next season!!!!" - someone on SBR

Come on people, get a grip.

The guy's not that great. Just because he had a good run during march madness does not mean he'll be a great pro. Marcus Fizer, Ed O'Bannon, Bobby Hurley, Trajan Langdon, Mike Conley Jr.... they all had nice runs in MM too. But what do they have in common? They are all BUSTS.

Derrick Rose not only played in a lousy conference but had 11 games where he couldn't even score 10 points!!!!!!! Now he's the next coming of Jordan & CP3??????

Seriously, if anyone really believes he'll be an all-star next year or that he'll be a better pro than Beastley, I'd be willing to make a little wager with you. Let me know.

its all hype.this is the main reason i quit card collecting.its all based on potential.do you remember how harold miner, nick named baby jordan did in the nba.he got drafted about as fast as his carear ended. jordan,my ass.how about anfreney hardaway being the next magic johnson.the leagues will always hype a new player, its how they make money.derick rose should be a good player, only time will tell, but to say hes going to be the next,or better than paul, they are fooling themselves.

Which of those guys was a freshman? 1 of them? that 1 players team was led by oden, not Mike.

Why not name players like Anthony, Darren Williams, Rip hamilton, or Okafor?

bobby hurley could have been a good player, but he got hurt in a automobile accident when he got drafted by sacromento.rose will be a good player i believe, and so will beasly, who knows he might be the next mitch richman.a scoring machine that cant play defense.

Because Anthony and those guys were GREAT the entire season. They didn't need MM to hype them up to get drafted in the lottery.

The guys I mentioned wouldn't have been lotto picks without their MM performance. Same with Rose. Had he scored under 10 pts like he did 11 times in the reg season, he wouldn't even be mentioned in the lottery. 14ppg in college is very avg, especially when he mostly faced lousy competition.

If you really believe he'll be an All-Star as a rookie and a better pro than Beastley... then here's my proposal.

    Three Wagers:

    1. Will Rose be an All-Star as a rookie? Yes (you), No (me). Loser pays winner $100.

    2. Will Rose finish ahead of Beastley in the ROY race? Yes (you), No (me). Loser pays winner $100.

    3. Will Rose be a better pro than Beastley? Only fair way I think we can judge is with pts + asst + reb after two seasons since you already think Rose will be a two time all-star by his 2nd season. Loser pays winner $100.

So hows about it? We got ourselves a wager?

huh, so memphis wasn't #1 at one point and a number 1 seed? Interesing; well cuse was a 3 seed the season they won it all. Funny how nothing you say actually holds up once facts are introduced.

Im not going to bother with any more of your post. If you, at any point, decide to start introducing a little non-fiction to your content, I'd be happy to chat with ya.

While I think Rose is overrated also, I find it impossible to be surprised by opinions issued on this board any more.

I mean is the idea of Rose being an all-star next year any more ridiculous than somebody saying Billups is the best player in the NBA? Or that Rondo=Iverson?

anybody that says ronda is better than allen iverson is on crack.the only knock on iverson is hes not a team player.this year he got players involved eventhough he scored alot.rose will not be a allstar, but i do believe he will be a good player.look at him,and beaslys body type, they are built like men,and not boys.

its hard for a rookie to be in the nba allstar game, but mofo will win hands down the second prop.it will be tied at this point.the third one is left.i would hate to see rose go to the bulls.he will not beat out ben gordon,or kirk.he needs to go second, and if he does mofo will win.result ,mofo wins 2,and you win one.

Who's talking about teams? Do teams get drafted in the NBA lottery? I said they were great INDIVIDUAL players. Look up Carmelo's regular season stats at Syracuse..... I guarantee you won't find 11 games where he scored less than 10 pts. You'll see him dominate like the 22 games with double-doubles. He would've been a lotto pick even if his team were eliminated in the 1st rd. You can't say that about Rose because his regular season stats were mediocre.

Im not going to bother with any more of your post. If you, at any point, decide to start introducing a little non-fiction to your content, I'd be happy to chat with ya.

I take it that you don't want to accept the wager? Well, this proves one thing..... nothing makes someone backpeddle faster from a crazy comment/prediction than being asked to back it up with money. Money is the great truth teller.

how do you think the props will go?i got mofo losing prop 1,and winnig prop2.its tied at that point.the third is who drafts him,and how he fits.i remember rick pitino, saying chauncey billups wasnt his kind of player, and would never amount to anything.he was a good player, that didnt fit in his scheme.look now,he turned out to be a allstar.its all about the fit.

you say mofo is scared, but when i asked you a simple guestion, you seem like the scared one.

    I say I would go 3-0 but I'm biased.

Seriously, I don't even see Rose finishing above either Eric Gordon or OJ Mayo in the ROY balloting. If Memphis had lost in 1st rd, no one would be talking about Rose right now. It would be Gordon and Mayo that would be getting all the press.

Who says mofo backed out because he was scared? I never said that.

I said he realized what he said wasn't what he truly believed in his heart, especially when he had to back it up with money.

Few days ago I risked my entire balance on the Spurs because I truly believed they were the better team. And had someone challenged me to a wager, I would gladly have accepted because I put my money where my mouth was.

when you say he wont back it up with money, its like you are saying hes not man enough to back it up ,because money is own the line.i have the lakers to win it all, because a happy kobe is a dangerous kobe.the paul trade will go down as one of the best deals of all time.i kept up with the pac ten,and oj mao was hurt alot.the kansa state, and usc, turned out to be a great match up.the draft people said they were impressed by beasly, but they said they werent impressed at the tryouts. erick gordan looks like a good player, but its all up to who drafts him.iam not god i dont know.

you know very little about basketball dagger. yet another child trying to play grown up here at sbr. what you obviously dont realize it that players 6'7 to 6'10 are a dime a fukking dozen in the nba. sure, beasley is a great talent and should do very well in the nba but there are very few 6'3 pgs anywhere with drose talent. there isnt a single pg in any league who can match up with drose and he will be a much more productive player in the nba than beasley. first year doesnt mean shiit bro. it all depends on where they go and amount of time on the court. who gives a shit about rookie of the year bs. mayo is a chump and will get owned for a few years. too much hype as usual coming out of the crap 10. good day

6'9 guy who makes 40% from 3pt, 54% overall, set NCAA record for most double-doubles in a season with 28 (breaking Carmelo Anthony's old record by 6) is dime a dozen?

How come none of you Derrick Rose backers want to accept my friendly little wager? I mean it should be easy money what with Beastley having all the signs of being the biggest bust in history.
