Question Is it easier for a STRIKEOUT Pitcher to throw a no-hitter or a SINKERBALL pitcher?

    Whats your take?

Strikeout pitcher for the simple reason that more balls are put in play vs. sinkerballers. That said, it is an extremely difficult task for either.

You would think the sinkerballer would be more fresh in the later innings.

Yes but regardless, more balls in play = more chances for hits, not to mention official scoring decisions.

Here's a little info about the last 15 complete game no-hitters, basically throwing out the combined no-no by the Astros against the Yankees in New York almost five years ago. Including the date, pitcher, teams involved, the pitcher's BB and K numbers for the no hitter as well as their season mark for K's per nine innings (S-K/9). As you can see, Lester's K/9 rate this year ranks far and away as the lowest among the most recent no-hitters.

    Date . . .Pitcher . . . . . Team . . . Opponent BB . K . S-K/9

no hitter has a lot of luck factor into it too. you gotta put the ball in play to last the whole 9 innings. pop up + ground outs is the key to a no hitter. really hard to strike out someone 3 times at bat...by the 2-3rd time he's at bat, he's probably going to be more patient and let you throw more pitches.
