    Default Mickey Mantle and Me!

When I was 10 years old my grandfather was a good friend of Mickey Mantle. I was born in 1957 and my grandfather got me a baseball signed by the Milwaukee Braves World Series Champs over the New York Yankees in 1957. When I was 10 in 1967 I went with my grandfather on Saturday to his office, Mickey Mantle came by to see my grandfather and I asked him to sign the ball for me. He looked at me and said you don't want me to sign this ball we lost the series that year. I said there is some room left on the ball and he was nice enough to sign it and I made him circle his name on it so it would stand out. Still have the ball and keep it out of the light so the signatures don't fade. I got to spend the day with my grandfather and Mickey and I remember it like it was yesterday.

Still the greatest sports day of my life!
