This just happen to a brother of a guy i know. True story.

beautiful day, takes the day off to do some fishing and getting some relaxation.

as always, he takes his best friend with him, a 5th generation, show dog, doberman. hey, they're best buds.

btw, this dog is 140 pounds and a big baby lapdog. one of the most friendly dogs you would ever meet. he wouldn't hurt a fly, period.

so they're fishing on a pond at a local farm. about 45 minutes into their fun notice 3 people coming over to them. as the 3 people get closer he notices that 2 are cops (1 male, 1 female) and a farmer type.

the dog, friendly as always, runs over to say hi to the folks stopping by. as the dog approaches the group, wagging his tail, the farmer blows him away when he gets about 5 feet away. 12 gauge shotgun to the head. dead immediately.

HOLY SHIT! WHAT DID HE DO? NOTHING? WHY? WHY? WHY? MY DOG, MY BABY, MY FRIEND. WHY?

farmer said the dog was growling, but the cops confirm he wasn't and the dog was not even looking at the farmer, he was going up to the female cop to be pet.

anyway, long story short, he was tresspassing and there's nothing he can do to the fuking farmer legally.

i couldn't even imagine what i would have done. Obviously this farmer is trigger happy. Could have gotten shot to.

I have 3 dogs, one of them is in my avatar (Max) and I think if someone shot him right in front of me, I wouldn't be able to control my reaction to that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure rage would have taken over and I would have shot him back. If not, I would seriously devote my life to making that guy's life a living hell. I'm talking going back there every night and slashing his tires, smashing windows, putting up posters of him with the caption "Murderer" all over town, getting one of my hot girl friends to seduce him in a bar only to claim rape the next day....I am evil...and I love my pets. How can that guy sleep at night? I hope the cops at least told him what an asshole he was. It makes me sick to think that if the farmer had entered the dog's yard and the dog attacked, he could sue the owners, but he can murder an innocent dog with no consequence.

Makes my stomach upset ... how can someone simply shoot a living creature cause he felt "intimidated"??? He had 2 cops with him .... I would create a master plan ... go to the guys house shoot every single family member and live him barely breathing ... and simply say " Now u know how it feels " .. but thats just me

As a dog owner Im sorry to hear this. Lots of farmers shoot 1st and ask questions later, alot of that comes from wild dogs, coyotes, wolfs, killing their livestock. It damn sure doesnt make it right, but thats the farmer mentality as of late.

I can see that, but this dog was obviously a pet walking with his owner. There's no excuse for that. Plus, it's pretty plain to even the dumbest, inbred, hick farmer that a Doberman (especially a show quality Doberman) is not a wild dog.

It may seem silly to you, but sometimes when a friend is hurting it make us hurt too. I don't even know the guy and I'm a little choked up. Avid animals lovers are always upset to hear things like this.

The story itself is stupid and doesn't make sense. Yeah, I'm sure a farmer is holding a shotgun while standing next to two police officers, and a dug stumbles upon the scene and while the police officers are standing aside him he holds his gun up, aims, and blasts the dog in the face.

Let me clarrify(sp) the whole story. This is a site owner at another site. We are casual friends. We have had differences in the past. He still is a good guy in my opinion. Its his brothers dog. I have never met the site owner even tho he has had a few get togethers. I think i got everything.

True story, I had to take my lab to the vet recently because she was acting sick. They took x-rays and saw that she had bladder stones. Also saw that at some point in her life (not recently) she had been shot with buckshot. Only one pellet caught her though, on the side in the back. It was still lodged there. I asked him if it could possibly be a BB or something else and he said no, as a hunter he knows for sure it is a pellet from buckshot from a shotgun. I inherited my dog from my dad years ago when he died. He lived in the country so I'm sure thats where it occured.
