3-QUESTION
SBR TRIVIA WINNER 05/24/2012
Short answer: No.
Slightly longer answer:
Things he has going for him
1. he's a switch hitter with more than half his AB's coming from the left side which is his better side. He always has the breaking ball breaking in to him.
2. he knows his strike zone and is willing to take a walk (or two) a game decreasing his total offical AB's which raises his batting average.
3. he usually spends some time on the dl. If you're trying to hit .400, that's actually not a bad thing because it will decrease his total offical AB's over the season. I just don't think you can hit .400 if you've got 600 AB's.
The biggest thing he has going against him is he no longer has the foot speed to leg out infield hits which is something I think you have to have to have a shot at hitting .400.
And if Tex doesn't pick it up behind him, I think Chipper will see fewer and fewer quality pitches as the season goes on.
