Last year at this time the Yankees were 7 or 8 games out of first and made the playoffs relatively easy.

Also, the AL East is very competitive this year so don't expect anyone to run away with the division like the Red Sox last year.

This is bad news for the rest of the AL East: They're only 4.5 out in division and 3.5 out of WC with EVERYTHING going wrong for them this year. Pretty amazing. A-Rod and Posada have been injured, they can't get a win from any of their young pitchers. There bench has been horrible. They've had 37 different lineups in 42 games. Bruney was lost for the season, who was looking in form to have a monster season. Cano and Giambi are around the Mendoza line. Yet, if they put a string of good series together at the right time they'll be right back up there.

I wouldn't count them out yet.

I guess when a team has 26 titles, is in the best City in the Country, and has a real surplus of money to give to the players.... Its commen to see people talk shyt about them when they aren't top notch.

Many other teams did bad this year, but Yankees are a highlight team...nor matter what.
