They became a different team with the addition of Gasol. You might even see Bynum in the Finals, if Phil doesn't feel that it will ruin the chemistry of the team, his injury is fully healed, and if it would ultimately help the depth of his bench. After the Gasol trade, they're 1-0 @ Staples against New Orleans, they did however lose on the road in New Orleans, but that's where the last week of the season helped. They never faced Boston since the trade, and the way the Celtics have struggled against the Hawks and the one man show in Cleveland, there's no way they could even compete with Lakers. The Lakers also win the coaching matchup hands down against either Boston, New Orleans, or Detroit.

Both meetings with the Celts came before the Gasol trade, rendering them completely irrelevant when comparing these teams as they're presently constituted (not that games that took place in November and December would have any meaning anyway). Completely different team with him and, yes, unquestionably the best team in basketball.
